Listen smarty pants, if you are going to make an incredibly convoluted pun, you have to spell ALL the words correctly. To wit:

Elm trees are in the genus Ulmus. Ulmus Glabra is known as the Wych Elm. Also in the genus is Ulmus Glabra Nigra, or Black Irish Elm, which is a rare cultivar of the standard Wych. So rare in fact that only a single specimen survives today at Wakehurst Place in Ardingly, West Sussex in southern England.

But if you misspell Wych, you drastically undercut the smarty-pantsness of your unfunny and beyond obscure joke. Come on, a joke about a single tree in some English garden?

To use the vernacular, you sir, can suck it!

My apologies sir, but I was making a funny? I'm afraid I'm not nearly smart enough to make such a long-reaching joke that required so many players to act off so many variables! I'm just a simple heathen, as demonstrated by my woeful spelling.

Am I mocking you? Dear, dear. . . I do believe I'm doing something wrong, and here I am thinking I'm here because Jesus sent me to learn from God's Favorite People! Our Lord must be crying even now because of my wanton manners and polite demeanor. By the way, I still have not heard a definitive answer on the commandments I listed, even with the verses I listed. Or are you saying God's favorite people are unable to defend themselves from a simple heathen? God bless! SamIam

Hello, friend. I saw this thread earlier but I didn't read it. It looked like a troll thread because the title is "Hail" and it was posted by a user who calls himself "Lord Samhain". I decided to come back and look into it when I noticed you blowing up in other threads.

"17: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18: For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19: Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." ~ Matthew 5:17-19

It is my interpretation that Jesus is telling us that He comes not to break the Law. Indeed, not one jot or one tittle shall pass from the Law until He fulfills the Law.

However, according to Jewish tradition there are 613 commandments (with the ones added by Jesus there are over 1,000) found in the Old Testament. Do you know these? Do you follow them? I realize you probably do not follow the Rabbinical teachings, but surely those laid out in black and white by God Himself are to be followed, such as the commandment not to eat meat and dairy (Exodus 23:19), not to wear mixtures of wool and linen (Deuteronomy 22:11), etc.
I have one nitpick, and then I'll get to the meat of the discussion. There is no verse in the Bible that forbids mixing meat and dairy. Exodus 23:19 says Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk. This is in reference to a specific Canaanite practice of boiling a baby goat in its own mother's milk.

Anyway, sin is still sin, and our righteousness is as filthy rags. Jesus didn't change that, no matter how many false teachers will tell you that Jesus is "cool" with however you want to live your life.

What Jesus did was to allow us to be forgiven for our sins, if we repent of them.

I don't wear mixtures of wool and linen, or even cotton and polyester for that matter.

While the newbie needs to be heavily shackled and bound by law, and procedure, ritual and recipe, in an attempt to promote good habits, a Master now knows better and does not need the law and ritual because it comes as easy as breathing. But, is not even the Master Chef still bound by the laws of space and time? Of physics and logic? Water does not boil at 100 degress F no matter how excellent a Chef you are - just as God told us, time and time again in the Old Testament, His commandments, all of them, are binding and eternal. (I believe He uses the terms "Forever" and "For all generations")
Of course -- that was the point of the analogy. Water boils at the same temperature no matter how good a chef you are, and adultery or murder are still sins no matter how good a Christian you are. A master chef would never try to boil an egg at 100° F any more than a born-again Christian would commit adultery. That was the point.

That's not accurate. Some laws are part of God's covenant with the children of Abraham, and do not apply to Gentiles. These are all explicitly mentioned in the New Testament. The dietary laws and the requirement for circumcision are two examples.

Rom 14:14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
1Cor 7:18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.

If a Jew accepts Jesus Christ and becomes saved, he must still abide by those laws. If you are interested, you can learn more about Messianic Judaism here.
