    Hi, Everyone!

My name is John and I'm from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I currently attend Piedmont Baptist College and I am a member of Calvary Baptist Church. I was originally brought to this forum when I was sent a link to the Coca Cola thread, which confirmed that my roommate had been lying to me when he said it was OK to have the stuff in our room. Thanks to some friendly faces and helpful advice I was able to do the right thing and get rid of the stuff!

To be honest I am only 19, and as my prior story shows somewhat prone to stumbling into sticky situations, so most of my time here will probably be spent seeking guidance. However, if I feel I can help somebody else with my advice then I will definitely do so.

I should probably also explain the origin of my forum name. I lived in England for a very short time when I was growing up (around ages 2-3). I don't have many memories of my time there, but I do very strongly remember seeing my father changing the channels one day when a show entitled 'Ethel the Frog' came on, with one of the more memorable trumpets I have heard. My efforts to discover what this show entailed have so far proven futile, but the memory is clear in my mind, even though I rarely watch TV now.

    Re: Hi, Everyone!

It was apparently some kind of documentary from Godless England on the limp wristed gangsters they have over there.

      Re: Hi, Everyone!

Hello, John, is it OK if we just call you John, and not Ethel? Because calling you ethel would be weird.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

              John/Ethel

Your name is going to cause confusion. I suggest you ask Pastor Zeke to change it for you. Select something more appropriate that will reveal your Godly nature. Otherwise, others like Nurse Clampett will suspect you of being some sort of trans-gendered sodomite.

Why didn't you go to Wake Forest?

In the Beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth. Genesis 1.1. This scripture is the first verse of the Bible for a reason. It lays the foundation for the absolute truth found in God's Holy WORD, the Bible.

                Re: Hi, Everyone!

I recognized pretty quickly that PBC was the right school for me, and wasn't particularly interested in Wake Forest.

Feel free to change my name to something more fitting if you feel this one will cause confusion. I'm not very creative so if you think of an awesome one I'll gladly take it, but otherwise soldier4christ would work for me.

You'll have to ask Pastor Ezekiel. Perhaps one on the other Pastors can change it for you.

So do believe the entire Bible? Every God given Word? Or do you just follow the soft warm fuzzy verses?

What are your thoughts on these verses?

Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Matthew 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

As they apply to these verses?

Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
1st Timothy 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
1st Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

                      Or these verses?

1 Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
1 Timothy 6:21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

                      Yours in Christ

Frenchie, do you associate with the unsaved?

2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Matthew 5:17-18 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Hey, sorry for not getting back to you sooner, it's been a bit of a long week. On Monday my brother announced his homosexuality to our family.

We've had some long talks since then and, sufficed to say, I have some thinking to do and some questions to answer.

Can I assume that your family promptly took the little fruit out in the back yard and stoned it?
