I am an atheist. There I said it. I was raised Jewish, but it wasn't for me. I have READ THE BIBLE, as well as the Qu'Ran. I am a very educated person, so don't act like I don't know where you're coming from. I don't believe in God because I understand science and accept it because I know HOW IT WORKS.

There's a difference between reading a couple Bible verses and reading the entire KJV 1611 Bible. If you had read the Bible like you've claimed, you wouldn't be asking some of these questions since the answers lie within.

So you say you know how science works? How it operates? Do you realize the scientific community is pretty much an old-boy's network where controversial claims and anomalous evidence is discarded without proper scrutiny? The only way you can get published in a journal is to basically tow the party line. The peer review process is full of problems.

Scientists are human. They have psychological issues, they have personal grudges, they have their own opinions, they have their political viewpoints, they have financial issues, etc. Much scientific research is funded by private corporations or through university grants. They can't bite the hand that feeds them.

Also, do you know how carbon-dating works? Genetic testing? DNA? Do you really? If I asked you to write an essay on how DNA is manufactured, could you do so without plagiarizing? The irony is most scientific atheists have no idea how science works, but they believe what scientists say on Faith.

I bet you only have a rudimentary idea of how the Big Bang theory even operates. I doubt you could explain to me the advanced mathematical equations scientists have used to arrive at their theory. Yet, you believe in things like this. Why? Faith. Faith in scientists and men in lab coats.

"Science" is an illusion. There are only scientists and what they have to say.

For example, the reason we know how old the earth is, is because of GEOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, AND MATHEMATICS! You can't make that up. They are laws that govern the universe, and they helped us to determine just how old the earth is. You have no grounds to say that the earth is 6,010 years old just because your bible says so.

Again, you don't know this. You have no in-depth understanding of Geology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. You simply take what scientists have to say at face value with faith. Why? Because science is a religion to many. It offers us an explanation. Its methods are tainted because of the humanness of scientists. The Bible, however, was inspired by God. I would trust God's word over man's.

YOU ALL WORSHIP THE KING JAMES BIBLE..... KING JAMES! That's a man, not a God. How can you consider a book to be true that was written by man? How can you say that it was written by God in "God's favorite language", when we know for a fact that the particular version that you hold as most holy was written by a man! Is that not heresy? WOW. You are really displaying your ignorance right now. If you have even read through these forums (which I know you haven't) you would see that NO ONE -- NO ONE "worships" King James. The King James Bible, written in 1611 by a team of scholars commissioned by King James is simply the best English translation there is. We promote this Bible because it is the most accurate Bible around. Other Bibles twist Scripture and put words in God's mouth (or even take some out of it).

Just the fact that you accuse us of worshipping King James shows just how blind you really are.

Looking beyond that point, the bible IS A BOOK! It holds as much credibility as Harry Potter! You can't take hundreds of years of scientific research and toss it aside without so much as consideration because some random book told you it's a lie!

You're really painting yourself into a corner here. A Book? Hmm. But, on the other hand, you the almighty and intelligent atheist base your opinions on....Books, as well? Darwin's Origin of the Species, Dawkins' The God Delusion, etc. etc. How can you attack us for basing our beliefs out of book when you yourself base your own beliefs out of a book, as well!

Of course the universe is created by God, and of course He has always been there. But you see, the universe and God are not the same thing. Everything in the universe has to have a cause, a first cause, specifically. God created the universe, space and time, and everything in it.

God is the source of everything. You're trying to tell me something created has been around forever. Have cars been around forever? No. Have watches? No. What about people? No. Animals? No. The planet? No. The stars? No. Even your godless scientists concede these things.

So why would the universe, the base of it, have been around forever?

I'm not even getting started with evolution and all of that jazz. This thread deals with enough. As you guys have more rebuttals, I'll add more of my view-point.

By the way, (just a little side note) my title is meant to draw attention. I do not want to be associated with close-mindedness. I assure you that I am not like that at all. I know you are all so certain that atheists are inherently close-minded, but that is not true. I am perfectly willing to accept anything that you can throw at me provided you can back it up with proof, and when I say proof, I don't mean a book. I mean irrefutable proof that has physical substantiating foundations that can stand up against the proof that scientific evidence provides.
