However, I consider John 3:16 on a regular basis. I urge you to consider it:
Joh:3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The verse speaks of the arrival, life, and temporary death of Christ. We mortals can understand the birth and life, and we accept, with sorrow, yet joy, the Death of Christ as the sacrificial lamb.
Now neither you nor I can fully understand God's Ways - He is far beyond us. We understand the birth and life of Christ, but the Death is beyond us. Consider, Jesus is God. God is immortal, immortals do not die, so the temporary death of an immortal is a very difficult thing to get your head round, isn't it?
The puzzle spoken to us by Jesus has more mystery - Imagine a hot bed of sin... for example, the darker parts of Chicago. If you were to sacrifice your son, how would this help rid the area of criminals and abominations?
Another mystery. But God has the answer - He knows.
What we here like to do, and would ask you to join us in this, is to simply accept the Word of God without thinking at all.
The true meaning of Joh:3:16: is
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
This is likely to be the most accurate and helpful interpretation.
