Satan was a demon who possessed an Angel Lucifer. Satan was killed, Lucifer freed.

Epic Fail!

Actually, Lucifer was the angel commanding one third of the angels in heaven, along with Gabriel and Michael (each one third). Lucifer then decided he was bigger and better than God (another epic fail) and convinced his third of the angels to follow him in, sort of like, his own franchise! Seemed like a good idea at the time, I'm sure, but ultimately the WORST idea ever.

Satan and all his followers were cast out of heaven and the rest is history!
