That's exactly the wrong attitude to have. Here is what Jesus had to say on the matter. I know you don't like to read scripture but this is only one verse so you should be OK.

Matt 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Jesus shouldn't merely be "very important" to you. Jesus should be the most important thing in your life.

Impatient eh, I can relate to that. I have been busy making sure one of my sons is working hard on my new sprinkler system, but that is another story.

Here's some food for thought. The USA is the greatest country in the world. We help more of our neighbors than anyone else despite the criticism and for nothing in return. We pledge allegiance to our flag UNDER GOD for a reason. IN GOD WE TRUST for a reason. If that isn't enough here's some more common sensical proof of the LORD: Take a look at yourself. Do the complex systems of your body appear to have come together by mere chance? You are a human being. The greatest species to have ever been created. The VAST majority of humans all agree in the existence of our God. These points are based on PURE COMMON SENSE ALONE which I have presented with the hope that you have some! Now I suggest you remove the seeds of doubt sewn into your mind by Satan, the great deceiver, and accept the LORD as your savior from the wonderful college friends of which you speak.

But i started reading this and thought wow... this guy is a real a$$h0le... and then i thought WOW I am a real a$$hole. But then I had a thought. I am worthless and all that other junk, and I am created in God's image?? That prayer is saying God himself is worthless?? Kind of confusing.
Also, I understand I have made MANY poor choices, but do I really have to degrade myself by saying I am a waste of a life to Our Savior? Second we're not catlicks who expect you to confess your sins and then tell you to repeat a bunch of prayers, all you have to do are things you can do by yourself: stop sinning, accept Jesus as your savior, ask Him for forgiveness of your sins, study the King James 1611 Bible, and get baptized.

i am baptized in the roman catholic church and i have read KJV quite a few times. its more of a question to me as to whether there is a God or not, that seems to be the undying question in every religious debate i have taken part in, and i have heard nothing convincing from either side

The LORD should come first. Remember, it's Thy will be done, not my will be done. If you trust God, you don't have to worry about your own needs, because you know God will take care of you.

Pay close attention to this passage from Matthew 6. This is Jesus talking.

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

You don't need to think about what you will have to drink, eat, or wear, because life is more important.

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

God takes care of the birds, and you are more important than they are.

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

God takes care of the flowers, and you are more important than they are.


31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Again, you don't need to think about what you will have to drink, eat, or wear. God knows what you need. That smiley face appears in the original KJV text, so you know God is looking out for you.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God. God comes first in your life, before anything. If you seek God first, he will take care of all of your needs.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Take no thought for tomorrow. God will take care of tomorrow.
