Whether or not you choose to acknowledge my point, it is a valid one. This entire foundation is based off of a book, written by several people who supposedly knew a person. When establishing the church, there were many gospels. The Christians chose to take the ones that mentioned him as the son of god and awesome. Any other viewpoint is heresy. Whether or not you want to realize it, the truth is that we have no proof of the Bible. It is a very well written book, but the only thing that seperates it from Lord of the Rings or the Koran is the story inside, and the following it has obtained.

Back then, no one believed stories of these creatures, just like atheists don't believe in God, and then the body of a platypus was brought to Europe and still atheists denied it (just like you deny that Jesus died temporarily).

And then the Platypus made it's entrance as a live specimen and everyone who had denied it felt stupid and became unemployable.

This is what will happen to atheists (only more so) at the 2nd Coming.

Could i have a link or something? i have heard not about atheists denying platypuses alone as a group...

do you have any proof of a second coming? And do not say the bible says so, because you still haven't answered how there is any proof that the bible is even true.

however, i will not feel stupid if there is a second coming. once i experience it, i will accept it, although my stand right now is truly rational. I have not experienced or seen god or miracles, and therefore, i have no obligation to believe in them, similar to your platypus story... there was nothing stupid about not believing in platypuses when there was no proof except for personal accounts (although i will admit, anybody who denied it after they had seen a living specimen, must be truly unintelligent...)

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16, emphasis mine)

I see what he is saying, and LIttleMissV, you aren't really helping your arguement. At the same time, Jewish/Muslim people say that their beliefs are correct due to it being in the Torrah/Qur'an.

they are just as sure as you that their religion is the true one, just as Ptolemy was sure that the Earth was flat, and that the Sun revolved around the Earth.

I'm sure that if somebody was raised on Lord of the rings shoved in their face weekly, they would believe in the ring, and would hold their book to your face just as you hold your book to Panzel's

let's say Tolkien wrote his famous series in more detail, similar to your bible... there would be no way to scientifically prove that this book is true, or that the ring exists, similar to how the truth of the bible and the existence of god cannot be proven.
