Anywho.... how do you do? I just saw this forum and I'm like, hey, why not?

Anyways, a smidgent about myself.

I'm 17, currently in grade 11. I play bass guitar and upright bass, I enjoy music, biking, gaming, some movies, and I have a deep hatred for Justin Bieber.

I don't go to church, seeing as I am Atheist. I was raised right, I made the decision of Atheism on my own, and I am not betrothed, as I am 17.

Not meaning to be offensive to anybody, but I came to the conclusion that it was fear tactics. Most religions use them. Threatening me to burn for eternity is pointless, as there is no proof that I will go there.

If I may jump in here...

Young man, at 17 years old I don't believe you when you say you're an atheist. What do you think an atheist is?

Have you ever heard of Pascal's wager? I don't know it by heart, but the gist of it goes something like this. If you live your life believing in Jesus and you get to the end and it turns out you were right, well, then you're on your way to eternity by His side. If it turns out you were wrong, you've lost nothing and at least you'll be fondly remembered for having lived your life in a Godly way. On the other hand, if you live your life not believing in Jesus and you get to the end only to find out you were right all along, you lose nothing but the life you expected to lose, BUT if it turns out you were wrong, you're seriously screwed, now aren't you?

You know son, I remember many years ago when I was riding shotgun with my dad to the grocery store one day. Mind you, my dad was not a church-going man. Anyway, out of nowhere a truck pulled out in front of us and just as my dad slammed his foot into the brake pedal he said, "Oh my God!" Funny how people suddenly find God sort of quicklike when their life flashes in front of their eyes like that, isn't it?

I'm just sayin...

I bet you're a good boy who just likes saying things like "I'm an atheist" because you think there's a certain coolness attached to such things. but at 17 you haven't yet received enough education to be able to say it with any degree of conviction. A little Bible reading won't kill you. really. Give it a try.
