Your topic, does a sinner deserve this kind of thing? Yes and no. All of us, even those of you running this show, deserve HELL FIRE, myself included. But first, let me remind you all of a little story. Flip over in your Bible to John chapter 8. It says:
"Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." -John 8:1-11
Here we see God's love toward fallen, sinful man. Here these people were, about to stone a sinner, and God said "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." How many of YOU have sinned? If you say you haven't, that makes you a liar. The Bible says if you're a liar, you're going to Hell.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." -Romans 5:8
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." -Matthew 5:43-45
The thing is, we ALL deserve Hell, because we are ALL sinners. But God is not just a God of wrath and punishment, He is also a God of love and forgiveness. I see people everyday that are headed for Hell, but I remember that I was once that lost person. All Christians were at one point in our lives.
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." -2 Peter 3:9
The Lord said He WOULD have vengeance upon the wicked, but He gives them plenty of time to repent. Despite what a lot of people may think, God doesn't want ANYBODY to go to Hell. God loves us so much, that both Hitler and Martin Luther had that same opportunity for salvation. You see many acts of violence in the Old Testament, because that was God's will then. But when you come into the New Testament, everything changes. God is no longer preaching the death penalty, God is preaching forgiveness and repentance. I thank God for being so merciful, that He would forgive a rotten sinner like me, and give me just as much chance to come to know him as the next person.
Now, as for what I've been seeing around here. I have counted more people than my fingers and toes permit, that have rebelled, and gotten turned off to God because of what has been said here. How many people do you think will respond to the gospel by violence, judgement, and hatred? It's like a very true saying I heard once "People don't care what you know, until they know that you care." You are not going to have any luck witnessing to people, unless you show them God's love. Many people think that the devil's greatest weapon is the lost. In reality, the group of people that will be (in part) responsible for sending the most people to Hell, is Christians. That's because when a lost person comes somewhere like here and hears the terms "unsaved trash" and "burn in hell you sinner" do you think they are going to listen to anything positive you have to say??? One last thing,
"For I bear record that they have a zeal [note, Paul is talking about the nation of Israel, but this can be applied to many other people, too] of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." -Romans 10:2-4
A lot of people on here do have a special kind of zeal, but are ignorant as to what to use it for. Instead of using it to show love and win souls, they are doing the complete opposite, and may very well be dooming many souls to an eternal Hell. These are hard words, I know, but they are not mine. This will probably even get deleted, but I hope that it does help somebody. You will all be in my prayers. God bless you.
