Hello, let me start off by saying that I do not at the moment believe in God. I am completely open to the idea of God though. I have spent time looking into various sects of various religions and have yet to find find one that made me feel as if God is real. I was once a hardcore atheist following the misguided idea that God was an illogical concept that could easily be disproved. I turned to the sciences only to discover that nothing exists to disprove the concept of God, and that even in science God is a logical possibility. I have also looked into various claims of people being able to prove the existence of God with on the spot miracles. Unfortunately I have yet to witness/experience such an event first hand. A christian friend of mine who claims to be able to heal some people even attempted a healing on me with no result. I am wary of stories about miracles that I read or hear because I am uncertain of the reliability of the source. This leaves in my current state, aware that God may exist, but lacking anything compelling to make me believe that such is the case. I don't expect God to simply appear and perform impossibilities to win me over. However, I also don't expect to feel nothing and that is what I have felt in every place of worship that I have visited, in the presence of every preacher I have met, in my various attempts at prayer over the years. I see countless devout people and I do not believe that they developed such powerful faith feeling the same nothing that I do. So I continue the search, asking people how to feel God, hoping that one day I will be guided down the correct path.
Any comments and advice are welcome but my primary reason for this post is to reach out to anybody who may have once been like me, or knows how to deal with the type of person I am, and ask how do I feel God?
