I thought you people only needed one book? are you saying that you actually need more then the KJV1611?

Well that is a start, now you have realised that the KJV1611 is not a complete guide to life, in time you may come to also realise what other flaws it has.

As usual you are talking total nonsense. The Holy Bible does not contain a manual for my computer either, we are not mormons who think there is nothing useful outside the Holy Bible.

True the chasers did not know about computers, but husbands and their wife's where about when your collection of fairy tales was written, does it not have all the instructions a wife would need or is it lacking in some aspects? Or does it need some interpretation to make those instructions suitable for the 21st century, oh no sorry, I forgot, the bible is not open to any form of interpretation.

Yeah, the KJV1611 does not tell you how to get stains out of laundry, how to properly beat a rug, root storage, etc.

The post from Brother Dewitt about his ex-wife got me to thinking. My Great-grandmother was a weaver, my grandfather was a broom maker, those skills have been lost to me. My father built a garage and put some updates in my childhood home that were on par with top craftsmen of today, those skills have been lost, and because of his advanced age and frailty he is unable to teach my sons.

How many of the women out there do their own canning and freezing? How many know how to bake bread WITHOUT using an automatic bread maker? How many know what kind of pumpkin to use for pies? Even you pasta boy, how many of your friends know how to make pasta from scratch? I could go on and on about skills that are being very quickly lost.

I remember with the Y2K scare, young people were freaking out like the world was going to end. Us older rural born folk just stocked up on water, made sure the propane tank for the barbecue was full and that we had wood for the fireplace. I found the difference in attitude to be quite amazing.

So now you have acknowledged that despite the claims of many here the kjv1611 is not in fact the only book you need, and there are so many areas where its advice is none existent, you are on the road to salvation, RAmen praise the Lord, You are heading in the right direction, keep going and you may eventually realise that is also very deficient when it come to telling you about God and our Creation, just where in the kjv1611 does it mention Noodles?

"Need"? Of course not. A man could live a perfectly holy and fulfilling life with nothing but the KJV1611 Bible, but that doesn't mean at all that our lives can't be enriched by other books. As COM so eloquently put it, my wife benefits by reading the instructions for her washing machine, her vacuum cleaner and her pie maker, though she doesn't need them. My daughters benefit by reading books about how to be good and obedient wives and mothers, though the Bible tells them all that they need to know.

I think, Jo Freddie, that you'd benefit by reading books about how creative Satan is in creating new and interesting ways to torment the unsaved through all aeternity, though the Bible is perfectly sufficient.

                GET THEE BEHIND ME SATAN!

I did not say that the Bible is not the only book I need. Most of the other information should be passed on from father to son/mother to daughter. The Bible does not tell me how to wipe my ass, in fact I have never seen a book that tells me how to wipe my ass, yet I am capable of doing so because my mother taught me.

I am not going to fall for some 5 year old satire of True Christianity written up by some University student who was such a loser he had nothing else to do.

Yet again I have to point out the major flaw with the sick fantasy world you subscribe to, there is no eternal burning lake of fire type of Hell, it is just not going to happen, why would a supposedly intelligent creator go to all the bother of creating us, only to damn us to eternal pain and suffering?

Why do we have tales of an eternal burning lake of fire Hell? Because sick, bitter and twisted sadists get some perverse pleasure in trying to make those people that are living life to the full, and having way more fun then they could ever have, feel frightened and scared. But it is not going to work, we are on to you. The one TRUE God, Hallowed be His Noodly Appendages, has made it perfectly clear that you have got it wrong.

                  An Announcement Regarding the Afterlife
2 It is my contention that a loving God of any kind would not Damn someone to Hell.
3 Darning them to Heck would be a problem for a supposedly intelligent creator.
4 Lakes of fire, boiling waters, sauces, etc, aren't a good choice.
5 If you want to attract "justified" persons, portray just rewards and punishments.
6 If you want to attract lunatics and sadists, portray violent punishments.
                  Muellers I
                  a letter to the Macaronians

20 It is most troubling to me, however, to see that there is argument among you that some sort of separate Hell,
21 where those not of The Faith in Our Lord Glob may be thought to go upon their death.
                  22 No, verily no!
23 This is not the way of His Great Tastiness.
24 He may be most peevish toward the non-believer, t'is true, as the many accounts of His pranks do demonstrate.
25 He condemneth not, however, any of His Creatures to eternal torment -
26 that is one of the many great sillinesses devised by other earthly religions!
27 There is a place in Heaven, though not necessarily pleasant, for all His Creatures.

28 Well-meaning non-believers will arrive as wait-staff, with fair labor conditions,
29 and may eventually be promoted into upper management positions.
30 There will exist, however, no corruption among them.
31 During their time off, they will have access to the pleasures of Heaven if they did harm unto no one.
32 If they were inconsiderate, or broke the Flimsy Moral Standards by judging others and holding others in contempt for behavior which was none of their business, they will have to pay, and be limited in what they can enjoy.
33 Especially nasty people will become the dishwashers and trash-collectors of Heaven.

34 Those who have committed great sin, crime, and harm during their time among the living will find their job assignments especially nasty,
                  35 their wages insultingly low,
                  36 their benefits almost non-existent,
37 their time off especially short,
                  38 their beer flat,
                  39 their strippers homely,
40 and their pasta cold and flavorless.
41 They will have no room for advancement for many millennia.

42 Lastly are those who did irreparable large-scale harm to the lives of others; they will be treated most harshly.
43 The tyrants, the conquerors, the despots, the otherwise greedy and sickeningly unfair; all these will be made to bow down to those whom they harmed.
44 Though they will not boil in eternal torment, there will be no end to their subservience.
45 Our Heavenly Glob instilled in them the same sense of right and wrong that He gave to others,
46 and these people willfully chose to ignore it.
47 For them, unkindness in return awaits.

48 The Flying Spaghetti Monster who is Our Lord did not create us that we might simply then be condemned for failing to believe in Him.
                  49 What kind of crazy scheme is that;
50 to bestow his Creatures with life, then to throw that life he bestowed into eternal torment?
51 That is the way of evil deities, not good ones.
52 Our One Who Flies and is Saucy understands that life among beings with free will, on a planet with natural systems that cause tumult, and Scientifically Intelligently Designed by a deity who is prankish and can be peevish, should not end in eternal misery.
                  53 That's insane.
54 What kind of fool would believe such a being worthy of worship?

Well pasta boy let's try to put this into a proverb you can relate to. Hell is that big pot of boiling water sitting on a unquenchable gas stove, you emerge from that dark, dank food pantry that is all that you know of life. Your days are over. The cook, God,places you in the water. you are in a malstrom of bubbles that never slow down and blistering heat. You think that you must be al dente by now but there is no collender in sight anywhere. The chef, God, thinks that rice has lived it's life as it should in the pantry and just leaves you boiling away, for eternity.

Get right with the Chef while there is still time. He ha sent us all the ultimate cookbook, KJV 1611 , available anywhere.

                          Still WRONG!

worst case, if you are a real prat
42 Lastly are those who did irreparable large-scale harm to the lives of others; they will be treated most harshly.
43 The tyrants, the conquerors, the despots, the otherwise greedy and sickeningly unfair; all these will be made to bow down to those whom they harmed.
44 Though they will not boil in eternal torment, there will be no end to their subservience.
45 Our Heavenly Glob instilled in them the same sense of right and wrong that He gave to others,
46 and these people willfully chose to ignore it.
47 For them, unkindness in return awaits.
The worst of the worst will have an afterlife of subservience to those who have led better lives. To end up in that predicament you will have to have been really nasty, and not just have been an unbeliever.

Say I've lived a life as good as possible. A real "saint" on earth (Gandhi, eg.). Then I die.

As I'm walking into my palace, I notice John Wayne Gacy scrubbing a toilet. I know of the horrible crimes he committed on earth, and my heart aches for the pain and terror his victims endured. I am suffering.

He looks up, notices me, and is happy because he always wanted to talk to me on earth and might now get a chance. He is rewarded.

So your religion promises to reward evil and make the "righteous" suffer? Thanks, but I'll pass.

Stop right there. Where do you get off labelling Gandhi a saint? He was a filthy little demon who beat his wife and worshiped satan and is currently down in hell being forcefed cowpies.

I am truly sorry, I thought that by putting it in quotes it was obvious that I was applying my own standards. I guess that on this forum I should have used Ronald Reagan as the example, to conform with yours.
