I am hereby and forthwith introducing my humble self to the fellowship. From the first time I came upon this wonderful Oz of Christendom I felt I finally found a home, and wept joyful tears.
I was raised Lutheran, so God was a scary Hairy Thunderer to me. I ran as soon as my parents stopped forcing me to go.
Many years later I repented:
True story: I found Our Lord while delivering food baskets to the needy. While I've never been a Mackerel Snapper, I participated in the Papist "Loaves and Fishes" program (mea maxima culpa!). While loading the food baskets for delivery I encountered a guy next to me with a pickup full of bread. He insisted I take a loaf with me. When I politely refused he became insistent. To get rid of him, I took it. On my first delivery stop, the person I was delivering to asked me if I had a loaf of bread. Slap me and call me Mary, I recognized this as a PERSONAL MIRACLE, proof positive of the existence of God. All doubts were erased. It changed my life. I started going to church three times a week and tithing and attending Bible classes. I knew that God reached down and touched me personally.
Later, I found out the bread truck guy was there every day delivering free leftovers to Loaves and Fishes, and that he hit up everyone to take an extra loaf of bread, and that everyone who got a food basket delivery knew there was always bread available for the asking, and it looked just like an ordinary, non-spiritual event....well. If I accepted THAT, it would mean I was a gullible chump who attributed a routine thing as a miracle....and God does not allow that in His followers. No sir. I will keep my PERSONAL MIRACLE as proof of my faith, and rejection of godless secular logic.
In fact because of the BREAD MIRACLE I spent one year going to a different church every week to experience the breadth of God's glory. I tried to get down with Methodists, Lutherans, Episcopalians (Catholics who flunked Latin...), Foursquare, and Off Brand Megachurches. Only Landover has the guts to speak the Word and let the chips fall where they may!
Thank you for giving me a chance to become a part of the only fellowship that stands tall before the Man!
