    Hi, I'm Jordan.

I just recently wandered onto this site from a thread posted on starcraftarena.net

I decided to come here and see what you folks were all about, and I was told to post an introductory thread.

I was born and raised in Austin, Texas. After 2 tours in Iraq I came back to my loving wife and 2 kids, and we're very happy. I currently attend Woodlawn Baptist here in Austin every sunday, and I suppose you could say I'm rather secure in my religion. I'd love to get to know more about everyone here, and how many of you came into the church, and why you think like you do. I'm a very open minded guy ( In a non-homosexual sense ), and learning how other people think has always interested me. I have to say, I was rather taken aback by the Starcraft thread on your forums, as my experience has differed greatly. I grew up with that game as a kid, and now I'm hearing some very odd things.

    Re: Hi, I'm Jordan.

Well let's take a look at their website shall we?

we believe that there is no “creed” but the Bible.
    Good, good....

However, we do not believe that baptism is essential for salvation.
    WHAT THE....

How can Baptists, not believe in the importance of Baptism?

Our church is a warm fellowship of believers. There is a long of tradition of a strong moderate Baptist presence in South Austin which makes our church a welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds.

We are a multi-ethnic church which seeks to blend cultures, worship styles, and life experiences together forming a beautiful tapestry of God’s people.

We have a casual feel on Sunday morning (most people do not wear suits—some even wear shorts). Our worship at 8:30 is more traditional, while our worship at 11:00 is much more contemporary with screens, band, choir, and Powerpoint presentations. We hope you will come and enjoy our friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Oh boy, I'll bet your "church" even uses the NIV doesn't it.

Oh, and could you please explain why you'll allow unsaved into your church, but you need to sign a medical release form? I don't think I've ever filled out a medical release to go to church. What exactly is it that you people are doing?
PROOF: Atheists are too stupid to understand the Bible!

Proverbs 13:24(KJV): "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes."

Galatians 4:16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

Welcome, Jordan. I hope you will enjoy your time here.

When we go on missions, or do church sponsored activities, release is required for legal purposes. In this day in age, people will sue for anything.

The united states has less than 8% of the worlds population, but over 75% of it's lawyers.

Well you ignored my first two comments, embarrassed? As for the releases, if you only let in True Christians(TM) you wouldn't have to worry about being sued. But then your pews probably wouldn't be as filled either.

I didn't reply to your first two comments because they weren't important. I'm glad we have freedom to do as we please in this country, so your opinion is of no consequence to me. In response to why we have forms, that is a solid question that warrants an answer.

So you don't think Baptism or what Bible you use would be of interest on a Christian board?

                  Smells fishy to me.

It isn't important that you don't believe in baptism for salvation, while you claim to be a Baptist?

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

As I've stated, I'm not really interested in differences of opinions. Christianity can be different things to different people, and I'm glad I have that right as an American.

So you came to a Christian board to NOT discuss Christianity?

Yes it is your right as an American, but you're going to die and going to stand in front of God. How exactly are you going to explain that you don't take His word literally?

Friend, the Bible is clear that we are to rebuke you for not follow it. It's nothing personal.

What is Christianity based on if not the Bible? I would hate for you to be leading un-Baptized people to hell by telling them it isn't necessary.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Because I believe different things, does it truly matter? If I believe that you don't need to be baptized to get into heaven, what is to say that isn't true?

Don't be silly, have you even read the Bible. Baptism is very important.
