I had planned on making this my first post, but as I was reading this blasphemous response to a delightfully righteous post by the Reverend Osborne, I was suddenly filled with the wrathful fire of God's love, and was compelled to respond to the sinner. If this was a violation of etiquette on my part, I apologize.

I have recently left my church after finding that our Pastor, having died of a heart-attack while ministering to a young widow having a spiritual crisis one evening, was to be replaced by a woman! As I'm sure you are all aware, this is clearly an affront to God. The Scriptures clearly teach that a woman, regardless of her theological training or oratorical abilities, cannot preach or pastor (1 Timothy 3:1-7). Hell-bound, the whole lot of them.

Wow, a favorite verse? It's so hard to choose, but I'll give it a shot.

"For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many." - Isaiah 66:15-16

If you received reprimand for speaking out of turn, please understand that you were chastened and scourged because of our True Christian Love™ for you.

Hebrews 12:5-8

While I admire your Christian zeal and your understanding that the woman's role in life is to be a silent, obedient help-meet for her Christian husband, please recognize that it is possible for women to find Salvation™ in Christ.

I Timothy 2:9-15
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Indeed, to find a True Christian™ help-meet is truly a blessing from the LORD, because you are able to fill your quiver full of children.

Welcome, well-named friend! Are you in fact a United States warrior crusading against the heathen in the middle east? Would you like to share anything about that with us?

I am curious why you are searching for a 'progressive, modern' church. These words usually are code for 'liberal, let's-interpret-scripture-to-let-fags-in' church. Some reassurance along those lines would be welcome.

I do not understand why this women even wishes to be a pastor

Thank you for your welcome! To your first question, yes. I recently left the pestilent sandtrap that is Iraq. I touched American soil for the first time in 22 months 10 days ago. Before that I was blessed to serve in several other hellholes: Afghanistan, Japan, parts of Europe, even Central and South America. What would you like to know, if anything? If I am able to answer, I will.

'Progressive' and 'modern' don't belong to the lunatic libs. Allowing them to co-opt our language for their own sinful uses is one reason we're seeing such a horrid decline in the values of this great nation. Christianity is just as valid now as it was at any time in history. Our Lord is eternal, hence perpetually modern. God save us all from a church that doesn't enjoy a strong, present connection to Christ. As for progressive, we must always move forward, carrying out the will of God until he blesses us with his Judgment. I hope I haven't found myself among Christians who praise the name of Jesus, while fearing to meet him in their hearts.

Thank you for your welcome. I have had cause before to act first and seek forgiveness later. Any reprimand I may or may not have received would be just and welcomed. We must all act as Christ moves us, and if this causes us hardship, we must be grateful for our trials. To suffer in the name of Christ is truly a blessing.

I have no doubt that women can receive salvation and it was not my intention to imply otherwise. I was commenting only on ordination.

I have no little warriors of my own. The Corps did not see fit to issue me a wife.

Hello Elias Christianson,

Whilst I do think that much of what you say has the utmost validity, I do have contest as to your comments regarding woman and their God given role within the Church and as a servant of The Lord.

I for one, just as my namesake Phebe did not sit in the back pews in silence, in fact, Paul personally recommended Phebe as to her devotion and her GOOD WORKS in the name of Jesus. Again, Paul RECOMMENDED HER and saw her as a peer. I suggest you read all of Romans, and 1 Corinthians for validation of this.

Also, I suggest you read Revelation and also Acts to she the role of utmost importance WOMEN are supposed to be playing RIGHT NOW and up to Jesus' return.

I can assure you that I am not one of these progressive liebral women and the entire congregation can attest to that truth, but I do not want to see a newcomer arrive here, flinging around quite OBVIOUS chauvinistic views. IMO, I think you spent far too much time in Afghanistan and their kooky ways have brushed off on you.

Hello to you too. I can't comment as to the evil of women. I'll leave that to the wiser among us to debate.

As to a sordid past, decidedly yes.

My return to Jesus might be best summed up by saying, "There are no atheists in a fox hole". I'll go into more detail at a later time, if you are interested. I'm off for a few hours of sleep.
