I'm Looking4God. I'll come right out with it: I'm in aethiest. However, I am not hear to "flame" you, I am hear because I recently came to the conclusion that the 2 billion people that practice Christianity cannot all be wrong. I am here to find out more about the Bible, see your perspective of the world, and probably come out converted. Hope you guys can help. And please don't immediately start with "oh your an aethiest you aren't welcome!" i am not here to be verbally abused. I hope we can even be friends.

Pastor, I have kept a respectful tongue. I don't know where you got the idea that I was being disrespectful. I am sorry if we got off on the wrong foot, but I am honestly trying to learn about the Bible, your perspective of it, and evrything in between. I already said I wasn't here to flame you. Perhaps you can explain how come to call yourself an atheist and not an agnostic? Every single atheist I've ever met has, without exception, been angry at God. They've all found some reason to blame God for something (personal failures, death in the family, fondling by Catholic priests, etc). What do you blame God for?

*sigh* so much for a warm welcome. I do not blame God for anything, partially because I am not yet entirely sure of his existance yet (I am here to be converted). I was hoping for you guys to show even a little bit of compassion, yet clearly I was wrong. I have, by the way, not met an aethiest who has acted in the way you discribed. I'm sorry if you have and they gave you a hard time for it, but I am not at fault if they did. And I am also not here to trade insults, so please stop such behavior. All it does is reflect badly on Christianity as a whole.

Actually, aethiests do not worship ANYTHING. Some argue that there are no supernatural beings (God) controlling the universe, so they choose not to worship. However, the notion that we worship monkeys is an absolute fallacy. Of course aethiests don't worship monkeys. How can one not worship anything, yet at the same time, worship monkeys?

I am trying to walk away from aetheism. however, if I am not comepletely and utterly sure it is the right decision, I will never be able to be fully devoted. Part of me would be saying "good job" while the other part in the back of my head will say "you didn't make a good choice". Kinda like being torn in two. I need to be 100% sure about such a large decision. To do this, I must convince my subconsciense that it is the right choice. Do you see my meaning? I'm trying to avoid lakes of fire and all the other stuff you discribed.

I also do not think I am smarter than any of you. I have an average IQ, get a B average on my high school report card, and am trying to figure myself out.

In that case, I am glad that Jesus has brought you to His Favorite Forum. You are here for a reason, son. There is no better place to learn of the full breathtaking majesty of God's Word as left for us in the King James Bible of 1611.

The first step you must take is to read the Bible. If you don't have your own leatherbound KJV 1611, then you can read online here. Landover Baptist offers a guided Bible study here as well. As you read His Word, all of your doubts will evaporate. Ask Jesus to enter you and fill you with His penetrating love. Then live by every word of the instructions He has left for us.

Matthew 4:4

Of course, we will be here to guide along your walk with Christ. Absorb the Biblical wisdom contained in the posts here, and you will soon come to understand what True Christianity(tm) is all about. Don't be fooled by false deceivers who follow a false Christ that exists only in their sorely deluded imaginations.

The message of the Bible is very simple: Obey God. If you choose to ignore the simple instructions He left for us, you do so at your own peril.

Thus my original question... why do you call yourself an atheist? Your words above proclaim that you are not. You have doubts. You are uncertain. This is not atheism.

What compassion do you require? If you are on the verge of a breakthrough, that's grounds for rejoicing. If you are not, then so be it.

I do not have hard times with atheists. It's the other way around. Their rigid, secular thought processes and cold, unGodly logic trips them up every time.

The only way you could be insulted is if you equate yourself with God-hating, reality-avoiding atheist scum. Again, however, you write as if you are not really an atheist. Atheism requires an absolute public denial of His existence. You admit uncertainty.
