I stumbled across an interesting fact as to the origin of the Hare Khrisna hair style. As you know, the head of a Hare Khrisna is devoid of hair except for a long tuft in the center of the head in the very back. There was a time when the "princeton" was very popular and those who kept the princeton into their receding hair years, watched the long tuft of hair that was in the very front of their head, slowly move back until at around age fifty they were full fledged 'Hare Khrisna's'. Many of them were so shaken and self conscious about this forced hair style that Satan probably caused somehow, that they doused themselves with flammable liquid and ended it all. If one studies history closely, they will discover that as medical hair transplants gained popularity, the cases of self induced burnings dropped off sharply. Praise Jesus!

The lack of knowledge prevents even the sincere from protecting cows with total respect and gratefulness. They are confused about the cow they see in front of them and the descriptions and glories mentioned in Vedic texts. Manu-samhita, chapter 4, verse 162 : A guru, a teacher, a father, a mother, a brahmana, a cow and a yogi all should never be killed.
