Devon do you understand what it means to follow the word of God? I am not sure you do. God demands no less than total obedience from His flock, true? You know it is. Now that put in terms that you will understand is quite simple, follow the Word every word right down to the period. What about people who cannot read? Or people who have severe learning difficulties or conditions? Can they not be saved? God is ALIVE. He is a living God, and the Word of God is not only the written word, but Jesus. He can speak into hearts and souls, he can reach those who are unreachable. Love is the starting point.

I didn't say I knew the Bible better than you. How am I to measure that? I cannot say I know it better than anyone, even people I know, let alone complete strangers on the other side of the world. I'm just asking some questions about your beliefs, as I do not understand some of them.

If that is the case, then how do you know that what you are reading and believe in is true? Maybe the really important stuff is mistranslated or poorly translated too.

Maybe Jesus wasn't born of a virgin. Perhaps he was born of a young lady or maiden.

Maybe John didn't really mean to make Jesus say, "I and the father are one." Maybe he meant they are of one mind or in agreement.

I'm sure if I showed up to your church and started preaching that stuff, I would get laughed out of the place. Don't you think?

No, but it is a translated copy - I was just asking questions, not suggesting anything. I can't speak any other languages, so I've never been able to compare, but it's always interested me. What do you think of it being a translation?

I have to say though, that I have seen two kids with Downs Syndrome and several others with other conditions, saved and they are full of the love of God. How's that if God does not admit 'retards' as you put it?

Not only have you not backed up what you claim about God with scripture, but you have flat contradicted the scripture Brother James posted. How is it that the stuff you make up about God is more true than what He wrote down in the Bible Himself?
