Hello I am 28 years old, american,atheist,and I do not believe Jesus is a real historical figure.
Yes,not only doubt the existence of god, but your Jesus as well. I would be interested if any one can provide multi sourced accounts of his existence.

Very true! There is a conspicuous lack of any manner of historical documentation other than the Bible written in that time period concering the whereabouts and doings of Jesus. About time somebody addressed that.

There's an entire collection of books and letters, all conveniently packaged together for you in a publication called the Bible. There are also some references in the writings of an ancient Joo named Josephus who was there at the time. Finally, there are even more "accounts of his existence" in non-Canonical, heretical texts such as the Gospel of Judas and so on.

Of course you'd say that in attempts to discredit me! However, in that instance - excluding my introduction posts, as that was designed merely to annoy the people here with new age nonsense - my source was cited in the next post. I'd appreciate it if we branched out a little, though - calling people names only detracts from the point said name-caller is attempting to make, after all!

And he certainly did make an assertion. There is, in fact, no reliable historical evidence that Jesus ever existed.

Ahhh... yes Josephus, the wonderfully short passage on Jesus and James that appears in that form only through mistranslation in one version. Also Judas gospel only shows a limited existence on the earth plane for the figure Jesus.He is more of a spiritual being than a man.That is being generous,at times he seem more like a metaphor to them.However Docetic texts like the gospel of peter would be more app.

And more - the first gospel was quite skimpy in comparison to the latter three, the gospel growing in size each time, showing even more how the story is elaborated upon repetitively - transforming Jesus from man to spiritual essense.

As for Josephus, his "account" was obviously a forgery and its veracity is dismissed by all historians.

The existence of Jesus's existence is overwhelming. Not only are there four separate books attesting that He indeed lived (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) but then you have Paul's account of meeting Christ on the road to Damascus, the dozens of eyewitnesses in Acts of the Apostles where they have seen Jesus Christ back from the dead, the Gnostic gospels, Josephus, etc.

The accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are questionable, at best - and still, they're part of the Bible, as is Paul's account and the "eyewitnesses," and the Bible is not to be taken as historically correct evidence! As for the Gnostic gospels, those were written anywhere from 200-400 years after Jesus allegedly died, making any such accounts worthless as nobody alive could have possibly seen him and been able to bear eyewitness testimony to his existence. As for Josephus, as I said, it is such an obvious forgery that all historians dismiss it.
