Hello everyone, My name is Jesse and I am new here. I have a question about some of the modern mainstream music (and older music, 90s or 80s). Such as rappers like little Wayne and whatever. Or maybe a little more heavy than that, bands like pantera where they have albums labeled such things as "Reinventing hell". Will the people listening to these kind of musics that are tossed around by the mainstream be sent to hell?

Well, it is possible that Pantera just have a keen interest in nature, and decided to feature a snake on one of their CD's. So I checked out one or two of the other images they've chosen to be associated with, and straight away up come the demonic symbols How on earth can anyone suggest that these maniacs are any sort of "Christian"? How could they possibly be seen as anything other than evil?

It is fairly accurate, but I'd just mention 2 snippets:

“[Black] Sabbath's Tony Iommi was not attempting to invoke the Devil”

That is not what Ozzy Osborne says.

“[Dissonance] is something that yearns to be resolved.”

Technically, an interval that "yearns to be resolved" is a suspension - but in the context of a (particular) passage (in any music) a suspension could also be dissonant.

I do not consider the interval to be evil in itself, however - it is the intention behind how it is used that is significant, the ideas that it is used to communicate (for example it often appears in hymns). The BBC piece reports some of those intentions, but this is not a musical theory class - I hope that is helpful.

Especially to hell-bound Satanists who think that demonic music is awesome, cool, the bee's roller-skates or otherwise "real gone"
