These feminist readings can be made by anyone fairly well versed in textual analysis, for example Rahab is an important Biblical figure both being one of the roots of the line of Jesus and of course for saving Isrealite soldiers.
Now in the aforementioned story of Rahab, she holds power throughout, saving the men's lives as well as her own. One of many situations in which it is the female who has control and influence.
