    Hello

    Hello

My name is Serena and I'm 19. I was born in Norway, but have been living in Denmark for almost 17 years. English is not my first language, and therefor I apologize for any spelling mistakes I might make. I'm currently studying linguistics at the university.

In Denmark religion is not that common. I have my belief, and so has my family. But so many don't understand why I go to church or read the bible etc. Sometimes that can be really tough That's why I was so happy when I found this forum! I'm looking forward to talk to people who shares my faith

John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

      Hello Serena!

      I like John 3:16, too.

Too bad that most people focus on the "should not perish, but have everlasting life" part and forget all about the "whosoever believeth in him" qualifier right before that.

That means a whole LOT of people are going to Hell!

      Yours in Christ,

        Re: Hello

I really like my name and is very thankfull to my parents for choosing it

As I said I study at the university on my second year. it's very hard, but I enjoy it a lot! I use a lot of my spare time with my grandmother and sister. My grandmother and I are very close and she is the one who teaches me how to live according to the bible since not many churches here is able to teach this adequately.

I help my mother whenever I can and uses most of my saturday on tutoring elementary school students. I also enjoy singing and is a part of the church choir

May I extend a warm welcome Serena!

And also to a fellow devotee of language! I'm a linguist/translator/consultant/multiple PhD holder and general 'interestingly-nice-and-normal-regular-guy-it's easy-to-get-along-with' language geek myself. I can read a fair bit of Swedish though I've never formally studdied it, Danish, less so..it's hard to find the time to learn ALL the languages God made after Babel..but one can always dream I suppose..10 languages is a useful start to speak reasonably well, but I really should make a start on Tagalog and Mandarin. I think God needs me to know these.

Anyway, tell us more about yourself!
And if you need help deciphering María's posts let me know.

          YIC, McUinnean, of that Ilk.

thank you for your kind offer

10 languages is a lot! I myself only speak 5 languages but is able to read and write 8. Right now I'm learning japanes, hoping it will give me a better understanding of the difference between Europe and Asia. Mandarin is very difficult! But I wish you luck in you learning

Excellent! I can see we0're going to get along.
I also strongly recommend you get your teeth into the KJV1611 - you'll find the purity of its style simply mesmerising. Go for it!

Or maybe you read it already! I'd love to discuss language development and archaism conservation as a cultrural stabilizing tool in relation to this.
