Hello everyone. My name is Brett. I am 20 years old and am currently deployed to Afghanistan. I am an infantryman and have been since august of 2007. I love my job, and I thank God for it everyday.

I was born in Colorado, from an Israeli mother and father, turned christians. I grew up playing music and ended up joining my worship band by playing guitar, drums, bass guitar, singing, congos, and all kinds of other instruments.

I lived in Africa for a year, working with the AIDS orphans, helping them have the best life they can with such little they have.

My beliefs are most likely very different from yours, which is why I am here. I'm not here to argue, I'm here to observe, ask, and hear what you have to say, and why you believe it.

Although raised in a Christian home, I had trouble believing in God. I was into drugs and alcohol, and God was a belief but not a practice to me. I ended up wanting to join the military so I quit smoking, and got back into my own belief of the faith.

instead of the dumb sarcasm, you could just ask "why do you believe that?"

Oh trust me if this war wasn't going on I'd be right next to you burning them. But here's the catch. The amount of resistance we were having on our patrols was decreasing heavily. Then they see a video of an AMERICAN EXTREMIST PASTOR burning their "holy book". So they amp up the attacks. That next week I lost 12 friends because of the retaliation for it.

well without breaking operational security, I'll say this.

I'm in a special forces group with translators that are american soldiers embedded with some of the locals. They were getting intel that the taliban had gotten ahold of the video and planned to retaliate.

But what you're doing by burning those is heating up the taliban's reason to fight. you're giving them motivation. It's killing your brothers and sisters, who we have offered our lives to defend a country that gives you the right to do a lot of stupid things.

Difference on march 2010 is 4 deaths.
