    Hello!

Can't help but wonder....?!?! This ISN'T serious right? And yes I did read your sticky.

The conspiracy theories about reptilians living under the earth and aliens enslaving us and a secret illuminati of lizard people are FAR more believable that the stuff I read on here.

So tell me - you're all just a bunch of liberal atheists having a laugh really aren't you?

Because if not....wow, I am pleased to have just joined a forum for the world's biggest can of crazy!

So, basically, you just came here to mock us. Ah well. Who cares? We get a bunch of those. But rest assured, you're going straight to hell.

      Re: Hello!

You seem to have a clue, at least you understand being one of Gods children is by free will. We do not consider the Bible or a God a joke. The Bible is not a 'Readers Digest' with a 'Humor in Uniform' section. It is cold hard fact and rules that must be abided by if you want to go to Heaven.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

I'm going to post a little-used Bible verse for you, one that is rarely mentioned in the Introduction forum, but one that I pray will help you "see the light":

(John 3:16) "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

The problem is, a phrase from the bible teaches people nothing. You can use it as guidance and interpret it the way you like - here's an example. I regularly read my horoscopes and tarot readings, but I don't believe in any of it, I am in no way superstitious. I just interpret what I read, apply it to my own life and use it as inspiration, guidance and wisdom.

The point is, I think you guys are making a mistake in taking the bible so literally as there is absolutely no rational reason that it is the literal of a god, who probably doesn't exist.

No, I don't think they're all crazy, I think they are misguided. Some are crazy, and some of them (those who enforce their beliefs onto others) are mean-spirited, and, dare I say it, 'evil'. However, I'm glad you have brought the president of the United States into this debate - I don't really approve of him so linked him to religion really doesn't sting my argument. Also - how do you know that he is Christian? I mean, take this back a thousand years - do you think the Crusades were carried out in the name of god? Or, more likely, the authorities used religion as a means to control their population and justify genocide in order to expand their empire?

I do not reject reality. It is YOU who still needs to refer to a book of outdated disproven philosophies as evidence, turning a blind eye to reason and science, who is rejecting reality. But there is nothing wrong with having the little universe that is only in your head - as long as you do not impose it onto others.

Aaah so that is why I would go to hell. Well, that doesn't bother me - why would the devil 'punish' me? I'm one of his boys! I'm sure he has a seat ready for me at the table next to the lake of fire.

I disgust you because I asked if you were a 'liberal atheist'....NOT because I called you a big can of crazy? I think that just proves my point...

Anyhow, while we're on the topic - what has being a liberal got to do with religion? Politics and religion do not mix. You get atheists who are conservative, liberal, socialist (that's me!), fascist - but that has nothing to do with them not believing in a god. Similarly, you get Christians who are conservative, liberal, socialist, fascist, communist etc etc.

So, in order to get into this heaven you speak of, do you need to be a capitalist westerner who salutes the flag of the US six times a day, goes to church, votes republican, believes the word of the bible....OR...do you go to heaven for being a kind person and bringing joy to others' lives. I would say I am a decent human being, never hurt anybody, never hated anybody, I've helped people at my own expense - but I do not believe in a god, and I do not agree with conservative values. Surely, if there ever was a heaven, your god would be keeping a seat warm for me?

On the contrary: the Bible has taught me EVERYTHING. I'm guessing you've never read the Bible cover-to-cover. Until then, your baseless accusations are simply laughable.

Whoa cowboy, I think this is where you have us confused with churches that interpret the Bible. We don't interpret it, we FOLLOW it.

You don't even have to get very far in your reading of the Bible to see THAT'S a horrible idea!

(Leviticus 20:6) "And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people."

                      Re: Hello!

I don't think you understood me on several of those points so I will ATTEMPT to put it right.

What I mean by the fact a phrase from the Bible can't teach you anything, is that it can't prove anything. And it can't - it is a circular argument.

"Why do you believe the bible"

"Because it is the word of god"

"How do you know it's the word of god?"

                      "Because the bible says so"

                      You see?

As for the interpret/following thing -you misunderstand me. I know you follow it and take it literally but that is the problem I'm pointing out. One word for you. DINOSAUR.

Now I don't care what the bible says - reading tarot and horoscopes is not a bad idea, and it would be hypocritical of you to say otherwise, but believing what they say as the truth IS a bad idea. These little superstitious games like tarot, star signs and the bible should be positively interpreted to help with your own life and to help others, not followed literally (yes, the bible does indeed fall in the same category.)

                      Ever heard of metaphors?

PS. I assume you believe Jesus was the son of god, or is god, or whatever. But is there any proof or evidence that he even existed? The silence of historians at that time on Jesus is deafening.

This is a much more logical argument than the atheist "big bang" argument.

"How do you think the world came into being?"

"With the Big Bang of course!"

What in God's name are you talking about? The Bible supports the existence of dinosaurs in case you didn't know. How do you explain that, Mr. Atheist?
Job 30:29 I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.

Isaiah 13:22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

Here's what the Bible actually says about interpreting God's Word.
Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Matthew 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
PS. I assume you believe Jesus was the son of god, or is god, or whatever. But is there any proof or evidence that he even existed? The silence of historians at that time on Jesus is deafening.

Post and run, typical God hater.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

CLASSIC! Threats of hell and eternal damnation. But where's your proof that I'm going to hell, or that hell even exists? Other than what it says in the bible of course.

You all keep referring back to this bible. Look at all of the other thousands of religions that came into being BEFORE christianity or even Judaism - they all had religious books too. Who is to say that your book is the right one?

And believing something that a book says just because it says so...anyone can write something, but there are so many extraordinary claims made by the bible - WITHOUT extraordinary evidence. When I see that extraordinary evidence, I'll believe it. So where is this evidence?
