Re: Not Impressed
New members are labeled as "unsaved trash"????
I'm sorry, but that is downright disrespectful. I am deeply offended and wish to know why.
Can someone give me a reason why?

Re: Not Impressed
Young lady, I have been living by the Word of God since before you were a glimmer in your parents' eyes. I have probably forgotten more Scripture from the New Testament than you have ever learned. Unlike your ilk of cherry-picking, salad bar false christians, I feel a certain degree of intellectual integrity that compels me to actually know a thing or two about the Book that forms the foundation of my cherished beliefs. It would behoove you to actually pick up and read a Holy Bible (KJV 1611) as well.
As I told you in another thread:
The Old Testament is in full effect. Aside from a few dietary restrictions and laws about animal sacrifice (Acts 10:9-16, Hebrews 10:4-14), the Law from the Old Testament is still valid. Or do you think Heaven and Earth have passed?
Matthew 5:17-19
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
John 5:46-47
For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
Thank you for demonstrating why the Bible forbids women to teach the Gospel or to usurp authority over men (I Timothy 2:11-12).II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. Rushdoony

Lycia,
most of what I have seen around here is based solely on the Old Testament and completely disregards the teachings of the New Testament. Just my observations
and interesting statistic. do you have the proof behind it? I apologize if I come across as rude, I am just deeply hurt at being called unsaved trash when I have been a Christian my whole life.
Jedediah,
if you have forgotten teachings from the New Testament, then you are missing out. That's all I have to say for you

Re: Not Impressed
So the Old Testament was good enough for Jesus, but not you.Originally posted by LittleStarGirl View PostIt's called the New Testament people. Read it.
Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Where did Jesus get those sayings from?
Deuteronomy 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Leviticus 19:17-18 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
18Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
What did Jesus say when Satan tried to tempt Him?
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Where did Jesus get that from?
Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Re: Not Impressed
okay, I do apologize. I am in no way trying to devalue the Old Testament. Colossians 2, I find, talks a lot about adding things to following Jesus as a Christian. Paul states explicitly that those who say you need Jesus and the old laws are false teachers.
quick question. I am once again not trying to sound rude in any way. But, why do you use the King James Version explicitly? I find this translation far too confusing to be able to understand most of the Bible's teachings.

In addition to the verses he posted, the Bible is very specific that the Word of God never changes, and we need to follow ALL of the Bible, not just the New Testament.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." James 1:17
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 2 Timothy 3:16
"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4
You'll notice I even took special care to use scripture from the New Testament to illustrate my point.
I do! It's from the Bible itself.and interesting statistic. do you have the proof behind it? I apologize if I come across as rude, I am just deeply hurt at being called unsaved trash when I have been a Christian my whole life.
"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:" Matthew 7:13
Friend, the truth hurts. You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs, and you can't get somebody Saved(c) without hurting their feelings sometimes. You NEED to know that if you don't follow the WHOLE Bible, it's just as bad as not following ANY of it.
"For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." James 2:10
I hope you'll think about this.
Praying for you,
Lycia

Re: Not Impressed
I was reading the KJV Bible at the age of 6, when I was growing up this was not something that would have been considered "surprising". Think about that, you grew up where almost all of the information you could ask for is at the tips of your fingers, yet you cannot read at what would be considered a grade 6 reading level 40 years ago.Originally posted by LittleStarGirl View Postokay, I do apologize. I weep for your generation.
Seven Easy Ways To Tell The True Bible From the False Ones
Sure, the newer Bibles are "easier" but they're also perverted. If you look at John 3:16 in the NIV, it doesn't even tell you that you have to believe in Jesus, just that you have to believe (in whatever you feel like I guess).
You may also want to read this link on why the other (per)versions are wrong.
In fact the only arguments against the KJV Bible are.....- King James wrote it (blatantly false)
- It's too hard
- It's not modern enough

Re: Not Impressed
I never said that I cannot read it. I said it is difficult to understand, thank you very much.yet you cannot read at what would be considered a grade 6 reading level 40 years ago.
When you say perverted, do you mean things are lost or changed in translation? Have you read the Bible in its original Hebrew and Greek? How do you know the King James Version isn't perverse compared to that? Not everything can be translated into English, no matter how it's written.Sure, the newer Bibles are "easier" but they're also perverted. If you look at John 3:16 in the NIV, it doesn't even tell you that you have to believe in Jesus, just that you have to believe (in whatever you feel like I guess).
John 3:16 (KJV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 (NIV)
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
I fail to see your point. Both translations clearly state that whoever believes in Jesus will have eternal life.
Umm..... no. I am not, have never been, and never will be Catholic. And you completely twist what I mean. I never stated or implied that I ignore what Jesus has said in favour of what Paul has said. I simply acknowledge that they are both parts of the same Bible, and so both have value. We are supposed to keep all the Bible in our practices, are we not?OH! That explains it. You're a Catholic.
You ignore WHAT JESUS SAID in favor of YOUR mistaken understanding of WHAT PAUL SAID.
Confirm for me, Little Girl: Who is God? Jesus, or Paul?
You asked me to cite relevant scripture, and so I did. If you had wanted it to be teachings from Jesus, you should have told me.
And how is my understanding of Paul's teachings mistaken? Please enlighten me as to what he is actually saying.
As for God, he is three in one. God the father, God the son, and God the holy spirit. But I'm sure you already know that much.
I didn't even consider saying Ringo. Why would I? If I had wanted to be sarcastic, I would have said 'God is Benny Hinn,' or something of the like.(Note: If you say "Ringo", you will be banned.)
On a slightly different topic, I have a question.

Jesus does not proclaim the entire Law is still in effect. He proclaims that the TEN COMMANDMENTS are still in effect. The laws that pertain to society in any stage of development.Yet you ignore Jesus' proclamation that the entire Law is still in effect, in favor of a cherry-picked verse from Paul through which you suggest that the Law of God doesn't matter, only belief.
Please explain.
Colossians 2:16-17
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Your rights to judge someone because they do not follow certain laws (such as keeping the sabbath holy), is non-existent. If you are a Christian and have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, your sins are forgiven and you are no longer bound by the old laws or the laws of man.
Now I see where you are all coming from. I must inform you that you are mistaken. The central focus point of the Bible, from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21, is Jesus Christ.Obey God in all things.
