Sir, you are pointing the way to Damnation!
That argument could easily be said on the atheism side with the examples changed just a little.

Should we perhaps tolerate religious nutcases? Murder? Rape? Sacrifices? Being condemned constantly, told we're wrong and they're right because an old book says so? Are we to tolerate the very lack of tolerance we get from religion?

See? Lack of tolerance shouldn't be tolerated, even if 'God' tells you it should be.

        Dear Friend,

Believers are a supermajority of the world. You atheists are 4% of the world. You can see why championing tolerance is a bigger deal for you than us. You need it, we don't. Demographics has an unanswerable logic of its own.

It is you, not us, who must beg the majority for toleration. Believers ARE the majority (and we are unimpressed with your supplication).

You're teaching Pastor Ezekiel about the BIBLE ( or "some old book" as you so blasphemously put it) ???

You should try reading it first.

(Hebrews 4:12) "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

While that is true, as general intelligence in countries rises the amount of athiests rises. I'm betting a lot more than 4% is athiest too but don't admit it due to peer pressure. Majority isn't always right and I feel this is one of those many cases.

              Dear Friend,

So your bet is that the world, on the whole, is getting more intelligent and not less so? Interesting.

I would that that were so, but it seems to me the world finds new and surprising ways to express its stupidity every day.

It's not a bet, it's a fact. In 100 years humanitie's greatest minds thusfar could be deemed average and our dumbest minds could be considered mind-blowingly idiotic because humanity doesn't stop evolving. We're going to get more and more intelligent, wheather or not you want it to stay dumbed down to believe in religion and other nonsense fed to people for thousands of years.

                  Dear Friend,

But even on secular science's own theories, evolution doesn't just happen for its own sake. Evolution happens when resource constraints dictate that persons with one characteristic will survive to breeding age and obtain reproductive mates, and those without those characteristics won't. Do you really think

                  * that in this Nerf-coated, nanny state, free healthcare, dummy-proof world, you really need to be a genius to survive to puberty?

                  * or that the world's going gaga for brainy guys and gals, such that all the dumb jocks are going dateless on each Saturday night, and will have no shot to reproduce?

Unless one or both of those is true, I wouldn't bank on evolution making us more intelligent on the whole. Idiots will continue to match or outbreed the intelligent.

Note how I'm able to continue a civil conversation about the course of human history without making snide side comments about your point of view. It is possible if you make the slightest effort.
