    An abjuration of my Evil ways

    May the lord forgive me.

    I was raised by good, righteous Baptist folk but have long since fallen by the wayside and have allowed sin into my life, truly to overtake my whole being.

    Until a few weeks ago, that is, when I discovered this community. I cannot say what I was doing that lead me here, I can only imagine it was The Lord's Almighty Hand (I know it wan't mine as it was otherwise occupied) that guided me here.

    After watching all of Pastor Deacon Fred's sermons, I knew that the life I was living was no good and that possibly, with a great deal of help, I might make a new start - live the life I should.

    I implore you to help...

    This passage from the Good Book has always stuck with me and made me contemplate my plight -

      Proof, if proof were needed, that the road to my salvation is going to be a long and difficult journey.

      My Bible learnin' was good, my Daddy taught me - the hard way. I rebelled and repressed those hard-learned lessons. Now I can see that I may well pay for this with my eternal soul.

      What am I to do?... I have already started reading on Daddy's family bible, which I am relieved to say is a King James (Authorized) Version ©1611, in conjunction with http://www.landoverbaptist.net/forumdisplay.php?f=45

          Welcome to God's favorite forum. Even though you've been a backslider, I can tell that you've got some Holy Ghost flowing through your veins still...

              I can surely feel something flowing through my veins, I can only hope and pray that it is the Holy Ghost.

              I shall keep to my studies and, with the Lords guidance, mend my ways once and for all.

              I have noted that there would appear to be women-folk actively involved on the board - I find this surprising as my women-folk (my wife and her four daughters) rarely have any 'free time', what with cookin' and child-bearin', never mind a-messin with technology. I have always believed this to be the how a household should be run). Evidently I have quite a bit to learn - just as long as this could not be construed as liberalism, I am trying (with the Lord's help) to fight my 'Liberal' demons that have tormented me.

                I just post scripture, I hope in appropriate context to any discussion.

                I am happy to link to the KJV however (or sometimes a relevant post in an earlier thread). I do not have "opinions" and would never intrude "teaching" in terrain where the Pastoral Team stand out before us as God's instrument of instruction.

                  Thank you for clearing that up for me as I have read that "The woman shall not weare that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a womans garment: for all that doe so, are abomination unto the Lord thy God..." http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/...teronomy-22-5/

                  I have always believed that the Lord refers to women in the guise of a man doing manly jobs whilst neglecting her husbands needs and therefore God's. Regarding the second part of the quotation, well it is too abominable to even contemplate.

                      Truly this epitomizes what I mean. However, as I said, it is too abominable to even contemplate and, might I add, even worse to behold!

                      I feel the need to cleanse myself after that, spiritually speaking. I'll get back to you...
