  • Hi there everyone!

    Hi there everyone!

I saw this forum online, and like many was initially shocked by the apparent extremism of your belief. However after doing some investigating and snooping around on the forum find myself strangely fascinated by the lot of you.

Instead of taking the prideful route and bashing or flaming like many others, I'd instead like to listen to your thoughts and beliefs and see in what ways my faith can grow.

While not a forum set up to debate, I do have thoughts of my own and hope my input on these threads can help you all grow in your faith as well.

    My very best regards,
    Ranger

        Re: Hi there everyone!

Duly noted Pastor Ezekiel, I mean no disrespect to you, the other pastors, the True Christians™, or anyone else on this forum. I find humility to be a key factor in my faith and wish to show no pride or arrogance in my remarks.

I'm a student from Georgia (I start classes soon for a master's degree in information systems), I'm a Baptist and am currently searching for a church that I have confidence in.

You see while I firmly believe in the church as a group of like-minded Christians I have some trouble believing every pastor that I encounter. My father and my brothers helped to start an evangelical church in south Georgia in my teens and while I was baptized young, I believe that is when I truly found God for the first time.

However the bliss of having a wonderful church was soon ruined by a false preacher who had managed to convince our small congregation that he believed in our same ideals by simply leaving out some of the details of his beliefs. I did not partake in our elders discussions with this preacher (being too young) and so I don't know how he managed to convince them he was the right man for the job. In the end we left that church, and since I left my hometown to go to college.

Ever since I have been to several churches, trying different denominations, different brands of Baptist and the like, all in the search for what is to be my church.

          Where in south Georgia?

Also, why did you let some false prophet run you out of your own church?

          Yours in Christ,

          Z. Smyth

Well thank goodness for that, because I feel like I've really been missing something. I realize now that the King James Bible and the pastors and True Christians™ of the Landover Baptist Church were not, by themselves, adequate to the task of helping me to grow in my faith.

Thank goodness you and your "own thoughts" have shown up to fill that gap in my life and make my faith complete!

              Re: Hi there everyone!

Again Faith Machine, I mean no disrespect. I'm simply not on the level of belief in Landover's theology as you. I'd like to learn from you all, and of course I have my opinions but those are simply opinions from which others can gain a different vantage point from which to justify their faith if need be.

And to you Zechariah Smyth, the church we had helped to create became a monster we could not control, and when those who followed the preacher outnumbered us, we left. My family and three of the other five founding families of the church left and joined another baptist church. However, after a short time there there was a scandal and it came out that the pastor was an adulterer. While no one is perfect, it is hard for me to follow a preacher who takes part in a sin like that while preaching to his flock every Sunday.

I've had really bad luck with churches, I'm hoping to learn something here or for someone to lead me in the right direction.
