It sounds as though you are saying that the Bible is a myth. Please explain how both of the sentences of yours that I've quoted can be true.

And help is what you are receiving. Put away all this heretical nonsense that's confusing you, pick up your King James Bible and read it so you truly understand what you have to do to be a True Christian and be saved.Originally posted by babdah View Postto be quite honest I am a student of religious studies but not one religion, it is actually Religions of Americas and integrated studies at UNC. which doesn't go into detail of the passages. Oh look, in context this is part of a rebuke to people who whine and moan about two totally opposing acts in the same way. It's not saying that God wants to be your friend.

(1 Thessalonians 2:13) "For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe."

Re: a year old christian
Oh, very good, you found the word "friend" in The Bible. Now try again, and see if you can find something actually relevant to the question I asked you.Originally posted by babdah View Post...Luke 16:9
Mat 11:19
Luke 16 is the parable of the unjust steward, which tells us that God wants you to fulfill your duties to your earthly masters with the same diligence with which you would serve God, hence:
Luke 16:11 "If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?"
Nothing to do with God wanting to be your friend.

Re: a year old christian
Let's put that into context.Originally posted by babdah View Post
Luke 16:9
Luke 16 9And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
10He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. 11If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? 13No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. 15And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. 16The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. 17And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
Seems to me that Jesus was talking about something other than "God wants to be your friend." Seems He was talking more about how it's important for people to do the right thing and that God's law is more important than what people want in their lust.

I have been reading some things lately about the epic of Gilgamesh and the flood story and also the similarity in the book of Ecclesiastes. Then I read about the Norse’s Gods and Horus. I also read about the Sumerians and the ten commandment look similar to the Hammurabi’s Code, from the 19th century BC.

I dont know, I pray for guidance and direction but i see nothing. I talk to God like a friend and still nothing.this is why it is so important to know what is tempting you
I am not! I am looking for reasons to stay a believer. You are looking for excuses to dismiss God's Word in the KJV1611 as the real truth that it represents
How so? I am a Religion Major working on my PHD on Christian studies. How is this heretic gibberish and demonic prattle?Reading heretic gibberish and demonic prattle in an attempt to discount the gift of Jesus Christ.
He has and I still haven't heard his voice. Will you let Him save you?
