My name is Storm. I go to church at Mt. Carmel. I found Jesus when I was little, but I am debating between Atheism and Deism.

Re: Hello everybody!
Does it say somewhere in the Bible that this life is supposed to be easy, friend? People hurt one another, don't blame that on God. He is giving us a chance to come to Him. Instead many reject Him and choose to serve false Gods or serve themselves. Thus pain and suffering in the world. It's very sad really.Originally posted by StormP View PostI don't believe so. I think Jesus was a great man, very strong morals, but this world has so much pain and suffering to have a loving God.

I understand where your coming from, but couldn't have God create a world without this? Re: Hello everybody!
But God did create a world without this. Genesis 1. He created the garden of Eden and man could have lived there in peace and harmony for all time. Instead Eve chose to disobey God and bring sin and suffering into the world, and humanity was cast out. We rejected the peaceful paradise God blessed us with. It's our fault, not God's.Originally posted by StormP View PostI understand where your coming from, but couldn't have God create a world without this? Why didn't he?

Re: Hello everybody!
So why didn't he just create a new world without sin, and just defeat Satan? Also, how do we know that the Bible is the truth? Muslims believe that the Qur'an is the Word of God, and the Jews believe in the Torah and the Old Testament. Is there any physical evidence that the Bible is the right choice?
I appreciate you actually having a discussion with me about this.

To test us and give us free will. Even though God knows everything that will happen, he allows us to suffer to choose to serve Him.Originally posted by StormP View PostI understand where your coming from, but couldn't have God create a world without this? Why didn't he?
And on that day that the LORD created, we the predestined saints called from the beginning of time will ascend to heaven while the sinners and those not called will burn for all eternity.Read the series of the greatest smitings in the Bible.
The 67 deadly sins of the New Testament.
Do you believe you are a sinner? God doesn't listen to the prayers of sinners.

If God is all powerful, couldn't he have created a universe that had both free will and no evil/suffering? If he was all loving, wouldn't he have wanted too?

Re: Hello everybody!
Free will. That's how we were created, to have the ability to choose between good and evil. Don't you believe that's how it should be? Would you want to be a mindless automaton instead?Originally posted by StormP View PostSo why didn't he just create a new world without sin, and just defeat Satan?
How can it not be? God wrote it. Would God lie to us? Why would He do that? Also, how do we know that the Bible is the truth?
The muslims worship a false prophet. We know this because Muhammed was mentioned nowhere in the Bible. And they even reject Christ as Messiah, instead thinking of Him as a human prophet, like Muhammed. Clearly this isn't so. The Bible says He is the Messiah, the Son of God.Muslims believe that the Qur'an is the Word of God, and the Jews believe in the Torah and the Old Testament.
As for the Jews, not only do they reject Jesus, they actually killed Him. I wouldn't put much stock in their belief systems.
Certainly. Name one thing in the Bible that can't be backed up by evidence. Is there any physical evidence that the Bible is the right choice?

But that would be a universe in which I could choose to hurt someone, yet they wouldn't suffer and I wouldn't be doing evil. Does that make any sense?Originally posted by StormP View PostIf God is all powerful, couldn't he have created a universe that had both free will and no evil/suffering? If you don't mind, can you name me one thing that can? The Big Bang Theory (Even though I don't believe it, I think there can be a better explanation) tells us how the earth got to where it is today. Fossil records have been tracked back to billions of years ago, but most Christians believe the Earth is only 6,000 years old.

Re: Hello everybody!
The Big Bang Theory, is a theory, just like it says. The Bible is fact, and does not claim to be a theory. As for the fossil record, animals have been dying for 6,000 years so of course there are a lot of bones buried in rocks. You have only your faith in scientists to believe whether the fossil of a leaf is 5,000 years old or 5 million. Why do you believe humans, just like you, who call themselves scientists, but not believe God Himself? Have you noticed how often scientists change their story? How often one theory replaces another and how everything believed earlier is thrown out the window? Why believe the flights of fancy of people who watch too much Star Trek instead of just sticking with reality as clearly outlined in the KJV Bible?Originally posted by StormP View PostIf you don't mind, can you name me one thing that can? Theories are made up of facts. They are just open to criticism from the community. People crash test these theories to see if they hold up. These people research, and constantly seek evidence for there claims. It's just how like gravity is a theory, and people are still testing it to this day. Why hasn't God made himself visible just like in the Old Testament? He talked to Moses through a burning bush, and he walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Why can't he do that now?
