  • A belated introduction

Hello I am Fencepost88, and as the name suggests I am sat firmly on that fence (where the grass looks green on all sides ).

I am an Agnostic, which does not mean that I do not believe in God, rather that I don't know God. I am not here to flame you, the way I understand it that is Gods plan for me. I am here to gain knowledge of God.

A little about myself. My name is Carl. I am from the UK and I was baptised chruch of england and attended church regularly when I was younger. I became an agnostic not through losing faith or turning away from God, merely by understanding my faith and knowing in reality I know nothing about God. This was when I was a rebellious youth so I was happy to live my life by my own moral code which was basically to avoid doing things to others that I wouldn't want done to me. Now I am what I would call a responsible adult I feel it's time to re-evaluate, get my nose into a bible, listen to the opinions of the faithful etc.

Why am I here? well I stumbled upon this site by accident and it may not be perfect but from what I have observed you guys aren't afraid to say what you mean, which is what I want. Sure I could head dwn to my local church and have it sugar coated and spoon fed to me and told that God loves me no matter what, but I'd rather get a genuine experience.

    all the best
    Carl.
For those who pretend to know the will of God- Romans 1:21-23 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Hey Carl, welcome to God's favorite internet forum.

The only advice I have for someone in your position is to stop humping that dirty fence, stop talking about reading the Bible, and get your nose in one ASAP. You never know when Jesus is gonna cut you down. If you aren't saved when He does, it will be too late.

Once you have read the Bible, then you should return here and join us in showering the Lord with deserved praises.

There is no better way to NOT look at phallic symbols than to stick your nose in the Good Book; there is no better way to NOT consider gay sex than to contemplate eternal Hell.

Thanks for the welcome billy bob, I did try to avoid any homosexual connotation in my fence metaphor but euphamism can be found in anything to be fair, suppose the word post doesn't help much either. Just to be clear I'm not gay.

Carl, I would advise you to steer clear of this religion.
They are a medieval cult that believes that the world is flat. They also believe that homosexuals, black people and women are scum.
Please, if you are going to follow any religion then follow one of the more tolerant ones, even Catholicism that treats women, homosexuals and black people as their equals. I do not want you to become brainwashed by these animals.

All lies! All we do is follow the Holy Bible as provided in the KJV. What is so bad about explicitly following the True Word of God(c)?
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

So you have nothing better to do than sit around and persecute Christians from behind your computer, son? What is it about our passion for our cherished beliefs that makes you lash out with such hatred?

You're not the first, you won't be the last, and you're certainly not the best at it. Jesus told us to expect persecution from your type. So I suppose I'll take this opportunity to thank you for multiplying our blessings in Heaven.

            Matthew 5:10-11
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

            Luke 6:22
Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

            I Corinthians 4:12
And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

Now since you seem to have so much time on your hands, why don't you follow Carl's example and start your own introduction thread, so that we can witness and minister to you one-on-one. As it is, you
            are being very rude.

Carl, my heart rejoices that the LORD has brought you to His Favorite Forum. You may not realize it yet, but your being here is part of His Plan. My family and I pray that you will learn what True Christianity(tm) is all about and that you will use this opportunity to begin your own personal relationship with Christ.
            II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. admittedly I was oversimplifying, some of you have already seen my posts in the proving atheists wrong with science thread. I found the article of the thread online and was trying to trace the original source but could not find it. This forum however had a lot of conversation about the article so I tried to make a few points not arguing against Christianity but rather the article which claimed to prove Christianity (well one aspect of it at least). I was advised I should introduce myself and after much thought, being that I am an agnostic and feel it is my duty as an agnostic to listen to and try to understand religion, I decided I should introduce myself and see what I can learn.

Think for a minute. Where did everything and everyone come from? Do you honestly think it is chance? Do you think if everyone in the world threw their socks into a giant pile, that your every be simply lucky enough to find your own socks? Of course not, you'd need help. God took all of the nothing and made the universe. He populated the Earth. If things were evolving, how come no one sees it happening. During the 2,000 years since God had the Bible written, there has not been any changes other than those done by man or God. Life is too perfect to be mere chance.

I said I was agnostic, not a Darwinist my opinion of the theory of evolution is that it is just a theory and any real scientist would agree that (espeically darwins original theories) theories have flaws. your sock metaphor is slightly flawed in the fact that if everybody in the world threw their socks into a pile and I jumped in attempting to grab my socks, there is a chance I would find them, granted a very slim chance. Some things can be seen evolving, livestock for example has been manipulated by man throughout history, giving us beefier cows, porkier pigs, stronger dogs etc this can be witnessed in everyday life. Admittedly that's cherry picking but I don't claim that evolution is 100% correct.

You seem to be an aware person. As everyone knows, there are no 'theories' in the Bible. God told us He will provide. If He sees fit to provide us with meatier dogs, He will. He can do this at the the drop of a hat, not take millions of years.

Chance is eviloution, definte is God. If God wants you to have your socks, He will provide them. Very cut and dry.

You should not waffle about with something as valuable as your soul.

How could anyone be on the fence about Christianity?

You either believe in JESUS and submit to all His commands like you're told, or you burn forever in a Lake of Fire wishing you had believed in JESUS and submitted to all his commands.

He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. - Luke 11:23

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. - Matthew 6:24

You already said you don't disbelieve in GOD, you simply don't know Him. Why don't you start reading the Bible so you can get to know Him?

I'm sure you'll agree with us He is entirely deserving of worship, devotion and praise.

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. - Revelation 4:11

What would? Do you need an act of God to convince you? Usually, when that happens, it is a bit too late.

For 1,000's of years, God has watched over us. The faithful, He has provided for in plentiful ways. To see this for yourself, you only need look around.
