  • Hello Christians

Hey, My name is not important, but you are free to call me Jas, I am not a Christian, nor do I believe in any higher deity, but I DO always keep my eyes and ears open to other ways of looking at the world.

I expect to get alot of flame/hate because of my beliefs, or lack of believes, but I want to make it very clear that while I am not a "believer" I also respect your beliefs and your right to believe them. I am not what a seemingly large portion of you believe to be "An Athiest", I am not homosexual (not that thats a bad thing) nor am I a pervert, a paedophile or someone who goes out of their way to insult or belittle another human being, I however AM a morally upright person, who does everything he can to live an honest life helping others, which I hope to do here, buy offering my honest, hopefully unbiased opinions on how to deal and live with people who disagree with your believes, and hopefully to learn alittle more about Christianity as a whole.

I am not married, and am currently in a long term relationship, if there is anything you would like to know, then send me a message, drop a comment at the bottom of here and I will answer it honestly as soon as I can

Looking forward to speaking to you in the forums,
    Jas aka 21stCenturyGuy

      Re: Hello Christians

Pastor, I am here to learn more about the Christian Faith, as my partners family is religious and I would like to be able to better understand their points of view.

I would also like to give a honest, unbiased opinion if you guys will hear it, if not I am just happy to read the forums and peoples opinions. I am not here to push my Atheism on anyone, nor to disprove/start arguements about your religion.

And I don't drink alcohol, had a bit of a problem with it in my teens and gave it up for life, I dont drink pretty much anything other then Water and Lemon-Lime Cordial nowadays, which is a kind of flavouring you add to water, tastes pretty nice at the end of the day

No thanks. We aren't interested in your unsaved, scottish opinions. You'd be wrong, even if you tried to tell us that the sky was blue. The only opinions we're interested in are God's.

If you wish to understand Christianity, read the Bible.

Start at Genesis and end at Revelation.

The links in my signature provide a couple of options -- one on this very forum (Bible in a Year with Brother V) and one geared more toward children . . . though I suppose we are all children before God.

I would also like to give a honest, unbiased opinion if you guys will hear it, if not I am just happy to read the forums and peoples opinions. I am not here to push my Atheism on anyone, nor to disprove/start arguements about your religion.
Considering this is a Christian church discussion forum, where we share Christian parenting tips and praise Jesus, about what exactly would you be offering an opinion which would not be intended to either disprove Christianity or start an argument?

Forgive my suspicion. We have heard these lines from literally hundreds of atheists who are polite right up until they realize that we will not throw away God's commands in favor of their humanist 'morality/justice'. They then typically become abusive and vulgar.

It usually takes fewer than 15 posts before they reveal their true, hateful nature and their vile, anti-Christian agenda.

How many licks will it take to get to the center of your Tootsie Pop, friend?

          Bible boring? Nonsense!

Firstly my friend, I would like to point out I am NOT Scottish, and would respectly request that you not jump to conclusions in regards to myself, much appreciated as I would not presume to do the same to yourself.

Your "partner?" Only queers talk like that.
I can promise you, I am not queer, I have been in a loving relationship with my fiancee ever since we were both fourteen, she is my rock and I used the word Partner, because I consider our relationship a equal partnership, I would be lost without her, and she feels the same way.

You will keep a respectful tongue in your head
I am not here to start arguments over whether or not Christianity is the correct faith, for I fear this would be the wrong website to get a polite debate going, however I would be honoured to speak respectively to the holy men and women of this forum, I only ask that the same level of respect is shown in turn, for are we all not one race of people, following a single path, be it the path laid before us by the Lord God, or the path we choose to live, despite our differences, we are still just one race of people, walking a single path.

Again, I would like to thank you for being honest about your feelings and my place in this forum from the beginning, and look forward to learning more about your beliefs and hopefully make a few friends here along to way

Hi and welcome to our friendly forums! I hope you'll enjoy your stay here but I'm confused with something you say. You say you are not a Christian and yet you are a morally upright person. How can that be?
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7)

Only through Christ can one know right from wrong:
And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God (Matthew 19:17)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

Clearly there is no moral base for the one who is not a True Christian™. This is a church forum for the saved. Would you like to be saved? Are you ready to confess your terrible sins? Are you ready to accept the LORD Jesus Christ as your Master? Are you ready get on your knees for Jesus?
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

I understand your scepticism considering your experience with previous Athiests, but with abit of luck, I will hopefully show you that we are not all abusive, un-respondable people, some of us are just honest people, who want to learn enough to live happily and understandingly with certain Religious family members.

I would never offer any opinion that I thought would start a arguement, or directly confront God/Jesus, but I would offer a unbiased opinion on matters such as non-confrontational ways to deal with un-religious conflicts and the like.

I am here mostly to learn, not just about the Bible, but about the people themselves; however if I see an opportunity where I have experience, or a good idea that would be benificial, I will offer it. If it is taken or not simply because of my faith, then so be it, I offered my opinion the rest is up to whoever I offer my advice to.

I honestly hope to learn how to deal with my own problems with religion, and hope to offer a honest, working mans opinion in return. Its all I can offer you, but I would like to say its a fair deal

                    Mary,

Apologies for the misunderstanding; Would you consider someone who is honest, hardworking, tries to be as selfless as humanly possible, helps out in his community, is loving to his family and fiancee, and wishes nothing but to live happily with the rest of the world as morally upright?

Because thats me, if you consider that despite the fact that I make a concious effort to think of others before myself and would never undeserving-ly harm another being morally wrong, then that is your opinion, but I consider that morally upright.

I meant equal in emotional levels, If I lost her, I would be devastated; she is my rock; and if I left her, I know she would feel the same.

By that, I assume you mean pre-marital sex, and we have been together for over a decade, I am going to leave that up to your judgement, but I hope you will be tactful in any response, seeing as I have been nothing but honest and open in turn.

Unfortunately, you confuse "living by the dictates of humanist morality" with "having morals".

True morality can only come from God, because God is the determinant of what is good and what is evil.

Let me give you an example:

Let's suppose your sister were raped. As a punishment for the crime, should the rapist:
                        A. Go to prison, where they sodomize rapists
                        B. Pay a fine
                        C. Marry your sister, and not be permitted ever to divorce her or reduce her share of household goods should he marry a second wife
                        D. B & C
Under humanist 'morals', you'd likely say 'A'.

However, the Bible indicates that the correct response is 'D'. The rapist must pay the woman's father 50 shekels of silver, then marry the woman and not divorce her or reduce her share of household goods.

Why? Simple. The fine is paid to compensate your father for loss of his property. The rapist must marry your sister because he has rendered her "damaged goods", and has humbled her, and she is now effectively unmarryable.

But do humanists think of these things? No, of course not. They don't care about the father's loss of property, or the woman's shame or ruined marriage prospects. They just want to satisfy their "blood lust" and put the rapist in prison so he can be raped as well.
                        Bible boring? Nonsense!

No. Morality refers to the principles of right and wrong and without Christ in your heart, you cannot know right from wrong.

Fair point, I would say that to an extent you are right, if say, a Devil was trying to seduce me away from God, if I knew nothing of God I might be powerless and without the knowledge of what was happening; but I do know some 'Earthly' rights from wrongs.

                              I am trying to think of a way to say this without causing undue backlash or insult to you and the forum at large, so please don't be offended by anything I say;

I know that its not right to hit or harm another human, rape a small child, or steal money from someone who can barely afford food. But I would say that it is a persons actions, and heart that dictates whether they are truly a GOOD person, whether or not that gives them the chance, or deservedness to enter the Kingdom of Heaven; thats a argument that is not beneficial to either of us, but the point is, a good person would be welcomed by Jesus, and moulded to be Moral, in his work and care, but a bad person is unwelcomed, even by Christ. So being a good person is the first step.

And Rev. Rodimer, I never thought of it like that, I suppose the idea of prison, while published to the masses as protecting them, also shows a more vengeful, violent side to us, there are few that would argue to protect the wellbeing of a criminal, let alone a criminal who is in jail, simply because we consider that this is what they deserve.

We may disagree on whether or not a human can be considered someones goods, but I see what you mean, revenge against the rapist would serve no-one, and only work to undermine our society back to the days of barbarians settling differences in fights to the death.

I assume that when you said unmarriable, you meant because she had had premaritial sex? Not just because she had been raped?
