  • A New Kid

    Hi everyone!

My name is Molly. I've been a member of a baptist church in my town (in the Southeast) since I've lived here, but my parents joined another church eight years ago and I visit with them sometimes. It doesn't belong to a denomination, but it's basically early puritanism with some Calvinism (there are a lot of Huguenots here by way of Charleston) and the oldest form of elder/deacon system.

My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29: 11. It's my "life verse:"
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

I became a Christian (or rather, He chose me) at 11 years old. I was at communion and didn't feel right taking it, since if the unsaved take communion, there will be twofold pain in eternity (I don't remember the passage for that, but I know it's there )

At risk of boring you, I'll also say that my father is my role model. His name is Michael after the archangel. I love the angels because while they are beautiful and full of wisdom and grace, they are ultimately holy warriors. My dad has lived up to his name and I hope to follow in his example.

Thanks guys. Feel free to ask anything because I know this post is getting a bit TL;DR

From one member of Jesus' elect to another, welcome to our forum. Have you borne any young Christian soldiers for your husband? How did you begin your personal relationship with Christ?
    II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. Rushdoony

Haha, I forgot to finish the story! I was at communion, not feeling right, and suddenly I was overcome with sobbing. For the first time in my life I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit and have felt that in me ever since.

I am not married. I still live with my parents, who are protective of me.

          Re: Ezekiel,
It was at my parents' church. It is a mostly closed communion, meaning only people in good standing membership of an evangelical church can attend. They do it quarterly, as close as it was in the Bible as they can make it - nothing close the Eucharist, which I think was very, very loosely based on the Last Supper and then they sort of ran with it, heh.

The Baptist church does it too...they're SBs, which is why I mostly prefer my family' s church. It's a lot closer to the Bible.

            What does that mean?

Hello and welcome to God's favorite forum!

You sound like such a nice girl and a good helpmeet for a husband. Why do you think God is withholding a godly man from you? What sin must you repent of?
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Well, to be honest, I'm really shy. I've also been sick about half of the last decade (no dishabilities or anything, just frail). I probably spend too much time studying. Guys my age find me overly academic.

Nothing is impossible with God. When He wants you to be married and start having children, He'll bring a godly man to your father.

So what sin do you need to repent of? Maybe we can help.

When I think about it, probably pride. I put too much stock in my intelligence, but also don't like to be humbled in front of others...too many defenses up! And I know it's one of the seven deadlies .

                        You're very kind!

Thank you for the compliment but it is not I who am kind.
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

Now pride is something we can work on. Why do you study so hard anyway? At your age you should be focusing on caring for your father, learning how to be a godly helpmeet for a True Christian™ husband. Put away your books, make sure your clothes are more modest than you think they need to be, focus on not looking anyone in the eyes unless it is just you and another True Christian™ woman together (but not longingly, please, no need to tempt those hormones). You should be working on your helpmeet skills and those cannot be learned in a book. Once you get good with God, He will fix your weak and deficient body and you will be a strong woman, able to give a man a quiverfull of children! Why, you'll even be strong enough to pull a plow! (It was how my grandfather knew my grandmother was "the one" )
