Being a papist was the worst time of my life. I just believed in stuff people had made up about what they thought God was and prayed to dead people.

Read the Bible. You will find that it says:

Exodus 20:3

King James Version (KJV)

3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Imagine what that would look like, to obey this commandment. It would involve NOT worshiping Mary, NOT praying to saints, NOT bowing to statues, NOT kissing the Pope's rings, and NOT believing Jesus is a cracker.
