Re: Does the Bible really say all of this?

Are your friends repetitive, God-mocking atheists who have never opened a Bible, like you?

If you'll excuse me, Widow Helen's nieces and nephew have arrived for movie night. We're watching The Passion of the Christ tonight. It's going to be Billy's first time . . . he's just turned 10. We wanted him to be old enough to understand what suffering is before watching the film.

    I'll be back!

Wow, that was the worlds shortest, lamest crisis and loss of faith.

Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

I thought Christ was about love?

Young lady, I am going to try to control my anger right now and just present the facts to you as plainly and dispassionately as I can.

Fact: I am a person of Jewish descent.

Fact: The last time Pastor Ezekiel and I happened to be in Louisville at the same time, Pastor Zeke, knowing full well my racial handicap, invited me to be his special guest to take in an evening of hearty boxing matches at the world-famous Pendennis Club, despite their strict "no Jews" policy.

I ask you, if Pastor Zeke had an anti-Semitic bone in his body, do you think he would have allowed me to sit next to him smoking Cuban cigars and cheering wildly as we watched young, clean-limbed pugilists practice "the sweet science" well into the wee hours of the morning?

          I think not!

Re: Does the Bible really say all of this?

Friend, you are not alone in finding out years down the road that you've been lied to about the Bible: it happened to me, and it happened to many other True Christians(tm).

BUT, here is the awesome part: YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE NOW!!!

The whole purpose of Landover Baptist is to present the Bible exactly as it is written, with no editing or deletions or additions whatsoever.

And guess what? Even that instruction is right there in the Bible!

(Revelation 22:18-19) "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

Does that sound like Jesus wants us to change stuff, or cherry-pick the nicer parts of the Bible so that somebody's feelings aren't hurt?

            Of course not!

And friend, you might have got here in the nick of time, because Jesus might have dropped an upright piano on your head, and then where would you be?

<--- people who don't use the whole Bible

            I'm overjoyed at your timing!

            Yours in Christ,

            Z. Smyth

Re: Does the Bible really say all of this?

Billy just loved The Passion of the Christ!

Now he understands how Jesus suffered for him, for hours and hours on end, in a temporary sacrifice so that Billy doesn't have to spend all of eternity being burned alive in God's Lake of Fire, if only he repents of all his sins and never sins again.

              Glory!

It's a shame that this ConfusedByPunctuation person can't understand such basic concepts as well as 10-year-old Billy.
