I think that what your fellow God-mocker meant by the question was where in the Bible Jesus speaks of tolerance, love and understanding.

In Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus gives us the command to love one another.

And, I am not mocking the bible. I hope you dont believe that.

You specifically said, "tolerance, love and understanding." That's love; how about the other two?

"Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone"

He was the only person there that day who was free of sin, the only one who had the right to "cast the first stone." He didn't stone her, but instead forgave her and told her to sin no more.

That is tolerance and understanding. He knew she wasnt without flaws and yet she shoulnt be punished. Nor where the accusers punished for their hatred.

                      I do like Jesus.
Then why are you giving him the silent treatment and pretending he's not up there watching you this very moment? Deep down, you know he is.

It is probably a secret sin in your life that has manifested itself as a stumblingblock, and you figure, if God doesn't exist, you don't have to repent and change, right?

I know. I understand. I'm a Pastor of God and Certified True Christian(tm) Counselor, and I'm here to tell you that whatever it is you are facing, Jesus can pull you through!

I treat people with respect. I know right from wrong. I help people in need. I have never done anything criminal.

Just because I am not a "true believer", doesnt mean I will hurt people.

As I have said: His teachings are still very valuable to me.

In other words, not everyone. Meaning the love, tolerance, and understanding was to be shown to true believers, not Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and certainly not atheists.

John 3:18 "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

Yeah, that's some love and tolerance right there.

By the way, the King James Bible is available online for easy reference in many places. This is my favourite (due to easy search capabilities and version cross-checking): http://kingjbible.com/

The prodigal son teaches us gods love is boundless and about his refusal to limit the measure of his grace

Whereas you seem to believe as the prodigal sons brother: reward and punishment if not believing as you do.

But still, thank you for the link.

That's a pretty low bar for tolerance and understanding. By telling her to "go, and sin no more," He basically said that she had sinned and that she'd better not do it again. By the way, here is what the Bible teaches about tolerance.

I find it to be a high bar. Hate is easier than tolerance. The mob who wanted the woman dead doesnt realize, they are not to judge her. Only god should judge.
