    Agreed.

James Hutchins, thank you for your input, I do agree that some people deny what they do not know.

    Deaner, some answers require clarification.

So when we give you the answers, why do you keep "debating" them. You ask a question, we give you the truthful answer yet you keep shooting your yap off. How is that not debating?

Friend, belief in God is knowledge. Denial of Him is a lack of knowledge.

People deny what they do not know.

I'm sorry that Satan's minions have swayed you. Then again, maybe this is Jesus' plan. Maybe you were drawn away from the church and brought here to learn the truth.

I think, from this, all you can assume is that the earth has four corners, not that it is flat.
Yeah, that's along the lines of "can God make a rock so heavy that he can't lift it?" puts you into a paradoxical loop and isn't really a question.

As for Brother Alex's explanation, a CIRCLE can have four corners in a way (by implementing a square upon it) but there is no way of giving a SPHERE four corners. At best you would give it 8 corners by putting a cube in it. But if you want to continue down this alley, I suggest we take it back over to the proper forum.

    I understand.

So what made you decide to reject God?
Encouragement from others to keep an open mind and use logical thought.

So yeah, it would be a false church. At least it wasn't catholic though.

That's exactly HOW you're supposed to read the Bible

Psalm 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

2nd Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

For example, Brother Alex's explanation of biblical support for a flat earth:
    Revelation 7:1:
And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

A spherical earth cannot have corners, it is scientifically impossible. The only logical explanation is that the earth is flat. Checkmate atheists!

The explanation of what I meant is underneath that. "I don't know for certain but I think God is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there."

Ah, I see, so you're not going to kick God to the curb, "just in case". Do you really think that's going to help you in front of the seat of Judgement?

So you're basing your atheism on wrong teachings?
No. My atheistic beliefs are not based on the teachings of that church.

No, you learned about some sort of "jesus" in a false church. Not quite sure which church you meant (please don't say catholic) but it took me until my late 30's to find a proper Bible Believing church.
No, it was a Protestant church, most of them were moderates.

Well then you're in the right place. We follow the entire Bible, none of this "that doesn't count any more" or "the Bible says X but really means Y" or taking one line out of context.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

This is where you are going wrong and why you still feel like you need answers. All these troublesome questions you feel the need to answer go away when you put your trust in the Lord. I don't worry about anything I don't understand any more because the Lord my God is watching over me and will help me into Heaven.

    started a topic Hello.

    Hello.

Hello. I am a 'de facto' atheist.
To quote someone you all probably hate, "I don't know for certain but I think God is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there."

What church I go to: None at the moment. I used to when I was young but it was what you would call a 'false Christian' church.

Favorite bible verse: As of right now,it's this.Elegant phrasing.

And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God (Revelation 19:17)

How I came to find Jesus:
As stated before, I am an atheist, so I didn't 'find' Jesus. I first learned about Jesus in a Christian church, which is when I first read the Bible. Since it's been so long, I now only have a rudimentary grasp on specific sections of the Bible.

So why am I here? It's my personal belief that knowledge is helpful, rather than destructive. For me, personally. So I'm here to acquire knowledge, gain insight on opposing viewpoints, and so on.
