Re: question
No apologies needed. Happy to hear you have found something beautiful in life. Musicians actually exists in a world that I will never hear nonetheless see. They can pluck a melody from out of the air and send it beaming across the continent by radio wave, by time I receive it, however, I'm lost as I can't distinguish between the different notes and rhythms. Kind of like an artist who can see different hues in a sunset that I never will. Glad you're here - it takes training like a musician or even an artist to see the moral beauty in God. Truly a blessing to having experienced such wonders.Originally posted by teddybear View PostOops, I apologize if I drew attention to it for the others here. My disability is that I was born totally blind. My optic nerve is underdeveloped. It's not really bad, even though people here say I'm being punished by God for something that apparently happened before I was born. Really, though, it's not a punishment, just how I live my life. If God was really trying to punish me, he would have taken my ability to play the piano. I'm perfectly happy the way I am, although it would be nice to be able to drive, but if I lost the ability to play, that would be a disaster.
Praise Him!!!

What is the nature of your "disability" ?Originally posted by Shimei View PostNo Sir. I have been honorably discharged. I identify myself with my occupation while there in the service. I was stationed @ Shaw AFB, SC. 363rd Fighter Squadron. I am disabled at this time.
There is no competitive pride in me Pastor Zek. I humbly will wash the feet of my fellows in Christ.

What did you do to make God punish you in this way?

Re: question
Thanks for the advice. However, I am pretty comfortable in my skin and it is pretty thick. My illness actually began and was traced back to my time in the service, ever since it has been a thorn in my side, so I doubt anyone will seriously convict me for it.Originally posted by teddybear View PostShimei, i wouldn't have told them I was disabled if I were you. I told them about my disability and have been getting constant jibes about it since I've been here. I hope they don't take you to task for it as well.
My prayers are with you teddybear. Care to share what your disability is, so that I may pray on your behalf tonight and know what I praying for?
Praise Him!!!

His conviction brought something out of David that I have never seen in a man. One who acknowledged that God put it in the heart of Shimei to curse Him. And despite the flattery of the people around him who wanted to cut the dead dog's head off, David knew better.
Never had anybody ask me that question before. Pastor Zek. For this, thanks!

You mean Shimei the Benjamite?
Well why didn't you say so!?

Matthew 7:13-15 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.Originally posted by Shimei View PostI came here a year and half ago from another state. Re: question
Giant Egg Hunt?
What does pagan Roman fertility rites have to do with the word of God?
And why does every false christian website have a "donate" button. Don't the wolves make enough fleecing the sheep in the pews?We carry a heavy burden for people turned off to Jesus and His Church due to hypocrisy, legalism, judgmentalism and negative stereotypes. We fight against this by being real with our shortcomings and transparent with our struggles. You won’t find any perfect people at GateWay.
We find it unacceptable for our culture to find church irrelevant and self-serving. Our sermons relate to everyday life with an outward orientation. A question we often ask ourselves is, “What difference does our church make to the individuals in our community?”
Are you seeking a better life - the experience of hope, joy, peace and love independent of your circumstances? Join the movement that began in 2001 as GateWay was birthed. We have grown from dozens to hundreds all because of Jesus and our unwavering commitment to follow Him, faithfully teach His Word, and remain real and transparent in our inner being.
Come and check us out in person. You will find us to be accepting and casual. Come as you are; see for yourself. God’s love beckons.
