All the religions you mentioned teach peace and love at its roots (The quran tells muslims not to kill, love their neighbor etc etc), judging entire religions by the acts of some crazy extremists is crazy. Unless you have a degree in religion (Or you have intense knowledge on the subject) you shouldnt be talking about this man (im serious, I shouldnt neither). Thats like judging all the queers by the acts of Jeffry Dunham or Christians by the acts of King Richard (starting the crusades) etc. Youre clearly a Christian (which isnt a bad thing by all means), so you will be biased.

Islam doesn't teach peace and love. Have you never heard of the verse of the sword?

9:5 And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush.

Or what about this passage from the koran?

2:191-193 And kill them wherever you overtake them and expel them from wherever they have expelled you, and fitnah is worse than killing. Why can't we judge islam by the extremists? They may be a minority, but if all muslims followed the koran literally, they would all be extremists. The koran is such a wicked book, it is alarming to think anyone would follow even 50% of it.

I was born in Britain and raised in Colombia. I speak english, french and spanish. I currently live in Longueuil, Canada (Im a foreign exchange student but my old man lives here). Im married to an amazing British woman, we have a healthy relationship.

I am advocate for free thinking and atheism but dont worry I dont bite (Unless you bite first). I became an atheist when my mother took her life and a left note saying that she did it to be with jesus. I believe in science and free thinking.

Why did her suicide make you become an atheist? She was obviously a believer, given her note. Your Dad's a Baptist Pastor still, so her death obviously didn't shatter his faith.

Did you become an atheist because being a believer in scripture that led you to the conclusion she was burning in hell and you didn't want to face that possibility? Thus damning yourself to hell in the process, if your parents beliefs were true. If your mum was still alive how would she feel about her son damning himself?

As an atheist who wants a "world of peace" how does registering and posting on these forums contribute to such a world? Do you seek to lead the True Christians away from their beliefs?

You obviously consider the beliefs of the True Christians here inimical to such a world. You have stated that the Bible "is full of hate". How does that statement, delivered to True Christians who believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God contribute to "peace and love"?

Hello Jim, It was a time where I was very depressed and my church didn't help me. With common sense, education in evolution and logic...I became an atheist. My mothers death was only a wake up call. I want true christians to wake up as well, and realize that the bible isn't perfect as they say, you can easily read it and realize all the hatred etc (Which is similar to the Quran), but at its roots,religion is actually a good thing, it helps people get trough life, have faith in something and help one another. Also, I'm only on this forum for a research project I have in college (somewhere most of these fine people will never go), If i manage to convert a trolling christian on the way than thats fine.

Let me get this straight...your selfish, headed-for-hell mother made a bad call and left you behind on this earth, which made you turn your back on God and blame him for a decision SHE made, which - in turn - caused you to dismiss Christianity from your studies in pure bias. And now, you loathe everyone who embraces The Truth™ and teaches what is right, pure, and holy since you are a wad of emotions who refuses to maturely deal with the hand God dealt you. And in the meantime, you superficially talk about "love and peace" to re-convince yourself of how good you believe you are when in fact you are morally not worth the spit from a camel's mouth.

Everything, the bible isn't credible. Some parts are just worse than others, and can be used to teach "morals", those parts are the ones used by false christians to fool people into believing that true christianity isn't crazy.

True Christianity(tm) is NOT crazy. Following only parts of the Bible is crazy (and a recipe for eternal damnation).

Let's say you were replacing the valve guides on a '69 Chevelle: would you just use the parts of the shop manual you were comfortable with? Of course not...that would be CRAZY (and a recipe for a cracked head if you mess up the torquing order of the head bolts).
