Mary Etheldreda Re: New Jesus Lover here How very interesting! I do hope you'll share your findings!
Welcome to our friendly forums!
I was looking forward to (I'd better check the actual expression)
My field of study is "pre-easter" Jesus, which is a highly speculative but intriguing area of study.
..pre-Easter Jesus and how The Gospels would be expanded into a field of study. The Words of Jesus are succinct and clear. Perhaps OP has reconstructed Q?

There are several points in that chapter for OP to consider. Perhaps by arranging all the letters between Alpha and Omega using an infinite number of monkeys would produce a Levantine "pre-easter" Shakespeare? but Anatolian archæologists are not sanguine I hear.
Jesus is very clear how much He loves Christians (but obviously hates everyone else). In the Psalms we read about the joy associated with loving God, such wonderful expressions of His Plan for Salvation grasped by the Psalmists before Jesus' lived here in the world He made, although the world didn't recognise Him of course (apart from the very few). Is that what you mean when you say "pre-Easter Jesus"?
You haven't exactly been well-mannered, lady. I asked you to properly introduce yourself (name, age, location, church, etc) some time ago. Ignoring a Pastor's directive is the same as spitting in Christ's loving face.
O.k. I get the scam. You are really going to a lot of trouble here. Wouldn't it be more straightforward to just set out your viewpoint analytically? Einstein believed in God and so do I.
Of course it was a snake, that's what the text says.
You'll also notice that God cursed future generations of snakes, "thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field" (Genesis 3:14), which would be pretty unfair if the serpent was "correctly interpreted as Satan".
God then told the snake that "upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life" (Genesis 3:14). I'm sure we can agree, that Satan doesn't crawl around on his belly (Job 1:7; 1 Peter 5:8) and doesn't eat dust.
You use a concordance for checking individual words, not whole sentences.
In point of fact Cruden's Complete Concordance displays a list of phrases for each word to make it easier to find the instance you are looking for. Refer to ISBN 0-310-22921-9
For example in the Garden of Eden. The text states very clearly that a serpent animal spoke to Eve. Even a child correctly interprets this as Satan. Other passages are not so easy.

It's a novel, The title is "He Would Have Passed By." I would be comfortable enough to share parts with you privately. Mary, the forum does not seem that friendly right off the bat. However I think we can be friends and I would love to get your feedback. I need all the help I can get.

No, it was a serpent. If God meant Satan, He would of said so.
There are a lot of gullible and not too bright people in the world. If the Bible was full of innuendos and falsehoods, think how many people would be mislead, wasting their entire lives following lies.
It says so, right in the Bible! 2nd Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Habakkuk 2:2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
(God told the prophet what to write.)
Jeremiah 36:2 Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.
(God told the prophet what to write.)
John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Furthermore, God instructs to follow EVERY word in the Bible or be willing to accept the consequences for second guessing Him:
Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Matthew 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Now, if you still think you know better than the Word of God(r), please post the scripture, jacket blurb or footnotes from Jesus that tell you to make things up as you go.
Adding suggested elements I left out of my introduction:
If you look at my user name that tells you my favorite bible verse, that phrase occurs only one place in the bible, according to my Cruden's Complete Concordance.
How I came to find Jesus: I procured a weatherbeaten white paper cover bible at a rummage sale. The owner gave it to me for free, said he couldn't put a price on the Bible. It featured "The Words of our Saviour in Red." I realized I could find no fault in any of those direct quotations of Jesus. They immediately rang true and began my journey. I have wandered many places, some scary, in my journey since that day of realization in 1984. But those words and that ring of truth have been my direction ever since then.
