The thread you are trying to derail belongs to Mr Gerkoff (it's his intro thread).

There are accounts by historians who were Jesus' contemporaries and unbiased ones at that. Josephus is a good example of such a historian - he was a Roman citizen and his accounts are available and have been proven valid. He wrote about Jesus' birth and life and also recorded events surrounding His resurrection. I am not sure that he was a believer himself but he did record events accurately as a historian employed by the Roman government. Look him up: Josephus Flavius.
    You went on to say:

. . . “.You are not paying attention, the qoute you pick has was about and article Irinka posteed and not Josephus..”

As you can see, Mr Grekoff's claim about non-existence of the historical Jesus was being refuted with a reference to Josephus. Your view that there was no Resurrection and that The Church sort of congealed from the corpse of Roman paganism over a couple of centuries together with your other view that it is not possible to date that historical event (even though you don't believe it occurred at all) means that Josephus' work is at exactly the time your theory would require.

Now the next bit will be too complicated for you (Mr Freddie) so I'll keep it to words of one syllable:

    . . .STOP .. GO · ING .. TO .. BRO · NY .. FEST .. IT .. NO .. GOOD .. FOR .. YOU

See this is where your religion falls down, a living religion should always be open to new text, which is why I came up with "The UnDoctrine of Shit"

    3. Humans invent shit to explain why shit happens.
    4. Over time Humans work out new shit as to why some shit happens, this shit at times shows that the shit made up in 3. is wrong.
    5. The people that believe the shit in 3. can get very upset by the shit in 4.
    6. From time to time shit thought to be from 4. will be found to actually be from 3.

Conventional religion is stuck in 5. Pastafarianism accepts religion as clearly made up shit, so we invite people to make up new shit for ours and add to the Holy Text, with the proviso that it is funny shit and does not advocate stuff like stoning those that don't like our shit, killing the first born or taking all the virgins as slaves.

Mr Freddie is not full of anything, he is one of those people in whom there was a noodle shaped space which only noodles could fill. And noodles it is.

    EXAMPLE

From the noodle perspective religions in general are a sort of coagulation of divers myths most of which fall by the wayside. From time to time, approximately every 600years or so, certain stories and histories-of-wishful-thinking get conflated and endure. Perhaps in a similar way one sees a river, there are stones and ripples and little eddy currents and leaves and things but occasionally some of those stones and leaves get entangled and then a tree might drop a branch or a buzzard might have a heart attack and plummet and eventually the river branches around this pile of detritus, possibly even forming a new river, over centuries. He would say that there was nothing in particular to distinguish one of those stones or leaves or buzzards, they just coagulated due to random effects that could have occurred any time, anywhere and that Jesus was such a pebble and the stories which formed around His life developed gradually. No great surprise, non-believers pretty much all think that.

But having lost the "discussion" he rants. O you of used the wrong word or That not what contempory mean or I eat worms and of course he does. But parrotting—as we see—the nebulous cant of macaroni ogres mandates that he accept nebulosity more broadly. Origins, in his nightmare, are not specific points in time but gradual agglommerations over centuries or decades at best and contemporay must therefore mean during those formative decades (or centuries).

Josephus fits perfectly that window, indeed he stands at its very nativity, as the benoodled would surely think.

But to noodle is to not think. The "Jesus myth" as he calls it had a nebulous genesis over a couple of centuries, he would declare. Sources from anywhere in that grey area are therefore "contemporaneous" he should say.
    He does not say that.
And that is how we know he is empty.

"The day and date of the crucifixion (Good Friday) are known with a fair degree of precision," he said. But the year has been in question.
The day is known because the myths around it tell us it was on The Day of Frigg, the yet the year, no clues to pin it down in the historical record .. ..
Yes I know they are talking of the crucifixion and I am taking about the resurrection, but get a year for one and you've nailed it for the other.

Your idea of fun strikes me as rather childish. Having fun at someone else's expense is the kind of thing I am teaching my children to never do. Beware: Proverbs 1:26

There you go again Irinka, concentrating on the negative, and ignoring the Love.
