  • Hi there

Hello. I'm Dan, but folks I know like to call me Dan-Bob on account of my middle name. I attend the Calvary Baptist Church, and I have been there every Sunday, without fail, for the last 12 years.

My go-to verse is Matthew 6:33. "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I found Jesus in rehab. They told me to recognize and submit to a higher power, and when I was finally able to do so I knew in my heart that Jesus was the one. It was a struggle at first, but I gave up my vices. Now I am living for Him instead of living for heroin.

Welcome, Dan-Bob. What a nice, catchy name!

I rejoice that you gave up your life of substance abuse for a life with Jesus Christ who made the ultimate temporary sacrifice for the likes of me and you. Praise!!!

Now, if only we could convince the homers to repent or else stay in the closet, we'd be rejoicing over another victory, right?

Tell us about your family? Do your wife and children support you in staying clean from your former ways of being a urine-stained-mattress-sleeping street junkie?

      Re: Hi there

      Hail, friend. Well met.

Since the age of 8 I've only ever slept on a urine soaked mattress twice, once when I OD'd and, well, another time when I OD'd.

How timely that you should ask about my family! My wife is getting out of jail next week, and I'm really looking forward to introducing her at my church. She has forgiven me for telling the cops the heroin was hers, and has stopped telling me I am going to burn in hell. (I know I'm not. JC has my back.) As for my kids, well, it's like they are trying to drive me back to the needle. Ever since I showed up to parent-teacher night reeking of tequila, both my kids and the school has been nagging me.

Thanks for sharing, Bob. Now that you've been set straight by Jesus and the wife is in line, it's time to start laying down the tough love on the kids...

Proverbs 23:13: Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

Let them know who's boss. Don't be afraid to make a scene or move around while doing so. Get theatrical. Furniture is replacable; your children are not! Lay down the Law (God's, of course) and set your house in order (see Isaiah 38:1).

        Praying for your family,

As you say, furniture is replaceable. And wounds eventually heal. Doesn't Corinthians say "for it is better that thou should destroy the body of your child with your furious beatings than letteth his soul linger in the presence of evil for nary a moment" somewhere in there? I ought to go give them a beating right now that would rival the one I gave my 6 year old son when he found my stash and started asking questions. It's for their own good.

It's a real shame that my wife is now a felon. That means she can't vote. Not that she should be able to vote, mind you. But it looks like this women's suffrage thing isn't just a fad and the liberals will fight any attempt to repeal it. In any case, having a wife used to mean I got two votes. She knows she isn't smart enough to decide these things, and is glad there is a man in her life who will tell her what to do and punish her with the back of his hand when she disobeys.

No, it doesn't, but there are real Bible verses with a similar message. The Apostle Paul was willing to hand an erring church member over to Satan so that his flesh would be destroyed but his soul saved.

1 Cor 5:3-5 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, to deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

On the discipline of children, there is this gem:

Prov 23:13-14 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

Anyway, I'm glad you've stopped living in a drug-induced fantasy world and have embraced the reality of Jesus Christ.
sigpicMt 21:42, 44 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes . . . ? And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

              Re: Hi there

              Hello and welcome, Dan-Bob!

I am so happy you are free from the demons of drug abuse! Hallelujah!

Your wife should have been happy to take the fall for you. For you to be a felon would impair your ability to provide for your family.

              1 Timothy 5:8 (1611 King James Bible)

But if any prouide not for his owne, & specially for those of his owne house, hee hath denied the faith, and is worse then an infidel.
She was being quite selfish to not see this and hold a grudge. She needs to be soundly "corrected" when she gets out of prison. She has no such worry, since her duties are clearly as follows:

Titus 2:5 (1611 King James Bible)

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God bee not blasphemed.
Once you have her squared away, then "correcting" your meddling children will be easier, since your wife will not interfere.
              sigpic

              I Kings 7:23

And he made a moulten Sea, ten cubites from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, & his height was fiue cubits: and a line of thirtie cubites did compasse it round about.

New here? Desiring to be pleasing in the eyes of The Lord and His Followers?

Then do as directed by our esteemed Pastors and head on over to the Introductions subforum and make your first post there, friend. Tell us what church you go to and what your favorite Bible verse is and how you came to find Jesus. Anything else you want to share with us about how Jesus has blessed you is welcomed too.

Are you a hater of God that believes He is a morally bankrupt monster? Read Why, you ask, is God so angry? to see that it is in fact you that is the monster that mercilessly and infinitely torments God.

Stop this relentless torturing of God and accept Jesus today!
