I am new to this forum, and understand that an introduction of some sort is preferred. I am 33 years old, and was saved by the Lord's grace approximately ten years ago. I am heavily involved in my home church, First Baptist Fairhope (Alabama), including the ladies' group. I am proud to say that Kirk Cameron will be attending our marriage event, in May! I will not be attending, as I am unmarried, but it has been a pleasure to help organize small details relating to the event with the rest of the ladies.
As for why I was saved.. Well, I can only attribute it to the Lord's will. My brother, Lord help him, "came out" as a homosexual about twelve years ago. Although I had fallen away from active involvement with my church, and gave far too little attention to my relationship with the Lord, I struggled with this knowledge. I loved (and still love) my older brother, but I just couldn't countenance his abominable choice. I turned to the Lord for help, and never looked back. I pray daily for my brother to be saved from the painful, ungodly path he still walks. His failure to live up to the Lord's will is why I actively seek to save others from such choices. No words of condemnation or education from me could come near to the tough love our Lord will show these poor sinners when their time comes, and it seems best to do everything in my power to help them see the light before it's too late.
Aside for my church duties and activism, I spend a fair amount of my time in bible study, in and outside of the church, and gardening. Working with the Lord's bountiful creation gives me strength when the evil of the world drags me into despair.
My favorite biblical quote is "The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good." Proverbs 15:3 (KJV) I think this best illustrates that the Lord sees all that we do, good or evil, and reminds us to always act with that knowledge. Although, if you need to constantly remember it, you should beg the Lord's forgiveness for needing the reminder to refrain from evil acts. You should know better!
