It is a pleasure to greet you in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. My name is Mansfield Mansfield, born in Seattle, Washington of humble parentage (both were devout Baptists) and now living in the wretched city of Portland, Oregon. One day, Mt. Hood will surely be the cause of this city's removal from the earth. I am planning to move once my youngest finishes Christian school.
I attend the First Baptist Church of Portland, along with my devoted wife, Jennifer, and our five sons, Blake, Franklin, Austin, Daniel, and Mansfield Jr. Jennifer is currently with child; she is an adoring and wonderful woman that is a fine mother to our boys. Blake is the captain of the church Bible Study for Teens and feels called to the ministry. Franklin loves sports and would love to coach wrestling one day. Austin and Daniel, our twins, are going to finish 2nd grade in a month or so and little Mansfield is entering kindergarten.
My practice is based on the Bible. I pray for my patients and share with them the word of the Lord at every visit. I have been persecuted for this, but I accept this willingly, as the Lord said we would face this from non-believers.
2 Timothy 3:12
Yea, and all that will liue godly in Christ Iesus, shall suffer persecution.
My favorite verse in God's Word is difficult to discern, but it will come as no surprise that this one stands out for me, Praise Him:
Luke 5:31 And Iesus answering, said vnto them, They that are whole need not a physician: but they that are sicke.
As a medical student, I was invited to church by a fellow that was one of my mentors. I am ashamed to say that I had spent the previous night in debauchery and drink, but the pastor spoke of the love and forgiveness a man could find in our Lord. Broken and in need of spiritual help, I accepted Christ that day. I was baptized the following week and have faithfully attended services since. My loving wife was a children's caregiver at the church. Her obvious skills with the children attracted me, and her smile, humility, and fair face drew me in. We married and began our family almost immediately. I believe Blake was conceived on our marriage bed.
I seek fellowship with you so that I may continue to be a good example for my sons, a good husband to my loving wife, and a good friend to all. My prayers are with all of you. By the way, I would be pleased if you call me Doc - since most of my friends do.
Yours in Him,
Doc
