Please help me with my addiction to the Drugs.

    Hi everybody, what's up??

I am a devout Christian, who happens to love marijuana. And before any of you accuse me of addiction, loving something is different then being addicted to it. I could quit at any time, and have gone as long as a year and a half in between smokes. I did this on a prolonged missionary trip to Russia, where I thought it would be a good idea to focus all of my time on spreading the word of the Lord, not getting stoned.

Also, although it is possible to get addicted to marijuana, it has a nine to ten percent dependency in regular adult users. (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis_dependence)

As opposed to caffeine, where consuming as little as 100 milligrams of caffeine per day (about a half cup of coffee) can result in a physical dependence. (http://www.overcaffeinated.org/caffeine/addiction/

Lies and fear mongering about pot has been going on since it was first outlawed. After all, its easier to overdose on water than pot.

My favorite verse is Genesis 1:1. The Holy Bible, the ultimate truth proves God's existence from the very first verse. God created the world, not some random explosion in the middle of space.... And to people who say they don't believe in God and the Bible, so this truth doesn't apply to them, I say, what a sad, sad life you must leave when you depend on the word of some satan-worshipping "scientists" as opposed to your creator. Deniers of his existence must not be aware of the massive hole they have in their heart, a void that should be filled by the Holy Spirit!!)
Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves.

I would never touch that stuff. Marijuana makes you gay.

Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

      Ms. Devout,

There are some passages in your favorite book that I found relevant in your situation.

1 Corinthians 10:13 - There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].

1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

James 1:12-15 - Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

1 John 2:16 - For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

In addition, there are some things in logic that are also relevant. In your case, the 'two wrongs make a right' fallacy. By referring to other possible addictions (caffeine or 'water') people try to belittle their own problem. It does not work that way. The original problem persists even if someone somewhere has a different problem.

It's best to take care of your own in this case. Not blame other potential wrongdoers.

God does not look the other way when one succumbs to temptation. Pray! Repent! Read the whole Bible! Stop making excuses! Stop trying to find other wrongdoings to motivate your own sin!

      Yours in Christ,

      Elmer

By calling smoking pot a temptation, you insinuate that it is a sin. You can only be tempted into sin, and I have never been. Smoking pot is not a sin.

So drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, smoking cigars, drinking coffee, using painkillers, or using an inhaler during an asthma attack are all forbidden?? Jesus himself drank wine!! In this case sober would mean to be calm and collected in the face of Satan.

Again, labeling marijuana as a temptation, meaning it is a sin, which it is not.

So everytime a married man looks at his life to see her beauty, it is ungodly and he goes to hell?? Because that is pretty much the definition of the lust of the flesh. And this verse doesn't not say anything bad about things that are of this world, it just says they are not of God. When you hold something a above God, that makes it an idol, which is forbidden. However, I love the Lord more than pot, so its not an idol.

I was not using the 'two wrongs make a right' fallacy. I was saying that it would be ludicrous to label a substance as harmful because of its minimal addictive properties, and then elevate ones that are far more addictive, such as caffeine, alcohol, and especially tobacco, to be fine.

And for water, I was not saying it was addictive. No one has ever died of marijuana overdose EVER. But several people have died of water overdose just in the past 50 years. Again, ludicrous to make a substance illegal, and lie about the cause, and then make another substance commonplace that people can die off of. Now, I'm not saying water should be illegal, I'm just saying pot shouldn't be.

I have smoked pot since I was 21, and I have never once had the urge to engage in homosexual activities, which I find every bit as repulsive and sinful as you here, don't worry. But one thing; if marijuana made you gay then why is less than 3% of the population homosexual, whereas 7.3% of the population smokes weed?? The numbers should be the same....

Daily or almost daily marijuana use increased from 5.1 million Americans in 2007 to 7.6 million in 2012, SAMHSA's national drug use survey found

Yes, this is the two wrongs make a right fallacy, my girl. how educational the point is not if caffeine or nicotine are addictive and if ingesting them makes you intoxicated. It may be true, but it is irrelevant when considering cannabis. Cannabis is a substance by its own accord. This is not about legislation, either, it is about God's will. Not to abuse your body, being sober.

The rest was mostly straw men fallacies, making a twisted caricature of the verses and attacking the caricatures. No use wasting prayer time on them.

It would be a good idea to get past Genesis 1:1. Some hints:

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Temple of the Holy Ghost! That's major, ain't it?! That's also in the NT, quite far from Genesis 1:1, so perhaps you will not have endurance to get that far. Let's try something closer to the passage you managed?

            Genesis 1:31
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Your body, your temple, God's temple. Good as created, not your own, just borrowed until its final destination, Heaven or the Alternative.

Being a True Christian™ is taking the word of God, not negotiating, just accepting. You negotiate, because there is something you like but God doesn't. You can negotiate all you want, but God won't. It's up to you. There are many things people like and defend by referring to allegedly worse problems. Many people like sodomy, some enjoy adultery, there are those who enjoy beasts. They also negotiate. God won't.

            Your choice.

And mine, I choose prayer and Bible study over this discussion, little missy.

            Yours in Christ,

            Elmer

1 Peter 5:8 says to be sober. And that's not just a suggestion. If you think you can be a Christian and a druggie, you are delusional.

                  Dear Ma'am:

Do you live in Washington State, or Colorado?

Do you have a doctor's prescription for the marijuana?

If not, (and you live in the U.S.) (well, it is technically illegal in the U.S.) then you are committing a sin.

                  We see this in 1 Peter 2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

See, we are commanded to follow the laws of man. Why do you think (sorta) Godly Christians are running for political office? It's so they can impose Biblical Law on America. This is why we can't stone (throw rocks, not your version) homers (currently). This is why we can't stone adulterers. But, with God's blessing, someday soon, we'll be able to implement the law that he calls for in the Bible (KJV1611). And who knows, when that happens, we may have to repeal all those drug laws, because it's not found word for word in His good book.

But until then, It's a sin to smoke the pot. Now, if you go to Amsterdam, it's not a sin there. Isn't that neat!

                    Stop right there.

It is not possible to be both a dope addict and a Christian. All you are doing is trying to convince us that being addicted to the pot is somehow in keeping with God's plan.

                    It isn't.

Pick one. Jesus or the drugs. You can't have both. It's like claiming to be a joo Nazi, or a queer Christian. Not possible.

Jesus says you have to choose, otherwise He's prepared to vomit you out of His loving mouth.

                    Matthew 12:30:
He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
                    Who Will Jesus Damn?

Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:

Stop being a yid and accept Jesus in to your heart.

No, you should simply stop leering at women.

Which Chronicles would that be? The first?

"For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above"

Why does that verse grab you, friend?

Well, that is just a sign that you have yet to accept Him fully, which is obvious as you are a Jew. However, in this case it is the woman's fault for allowing you to see a slight glimpse of her breasts. 1 Timothy 2:9 shows this.
