Well, if you were a real Christian, you would give to whomever God tells you give -- the church, your parents (Mk 7:8-13), etc.

Love the Lord God with all your heart, mind, and soul. Love your neighbor as yourself. This is the teaching of Jesus, the summary of the law. You would be wise to understand it now.

Pastor Jones has an excellent sermon on just that topic. You do realise we only have to love our neighbours and our brothers and sisters in Christi, right? We should hate God's enemies.

The verse you refer to is just Jacob dealing with God, you know...IF God did so and so for him, Jacob would do that.

You seem like one of those people who get offended by preaching on tithing. Why is it all you liberals can think about is money? You said earlier you give as you can. Well, your giving doesn't even start till after you've paid your tithe. A tithe of everything you earn belongs to God. You don't give it to Him; it's His. It's not a gift; it's His due. Failure to render tithes is robbery.

Mal 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

Giving is what you give over and above the minimum requirement.

Tithing is even mentioned in the New Testament. The priest Melchizedek was a type of Christ. By giving a tithe to Melchizedek, Abraham tithed to Jesus.

Heb 7:6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. (context)

Tithing separates the sheep from the goats. It shows where your heart is. Remember what Jesus said.

Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
