You should not consider yourself to be insulted when you are called heathen. You are a heathen. That is more of a condition or a disease, like tuberculosis. The good news is that it is treatable, but you will have to voluntarily take the medicine. The medicine is Jesus Christ, who died for your sins on Calvary.

We can lead you to the water of life, but we can't make you drink. Live forever with God and Jesus or go to Hell with the Devil. It is all up to you.

Of course, you'd have it backwards. It is not the Bible that does not meet the standards. It is the PEOPLE who no longer meet the standards set by the Good Book. It is also not a question of "like or not". It is about humility in the face of the Great and Only God, of JESUS. Why use the emotionally-laden word "barbaric" - only to make an association of the GOODNESS in Bible to backwardness, stagnation, age! I admit that the demands of the Bible may seem "barbaric" for the uninitiated mind, but can you really compare a few decades, a century at best, of hard discipline and occasional slight discomfort from physical but well-earned punishment to ETERNITY with JESUS!? You obviously cannot!

Luke 13:21-24 tells us the same:
21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
22 And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

I suppose entering Heaven is outdated and Hell is now the fad. I weep for your soul at the moment. I pray now while still on Earth. Once in Heaven, my sorrows will be over and I can watch in extacy at the sinners in the Furnace. This is great comfort for me when my precious Faith is being ridiculed.

The Bible is outdated because it does not match our standards in the modern world. Divorce is no longer illegal. Equal rights for everyone are a thing whether you like it or not. Freedom is a key part to peoples' lives, freedom which the Bible does not allow with its sexist and old-fashioned views. The Bible is nothing but barbaric when you try to FULLY implement it in modern society.
