Dear Hjenson, please read my post more carefully. I did not state that you called the Bible a lie. If you will look very closely at the actual text on the screen, you will see a question mark. I asked you if you think that the Bible is a lie. You may feel free to offer up an honest answer.

Unlike a lot of people here - Christians and atheists alike - I respect the beliefs of my fellow men.

There are many who would support your position. It's not exactly going to win you friends and help you influence people here on this site.

Please bear in mind that the stated mission of LBC is not to respect the beliefs of our fellow man. Our mission is to disseminate the truth about the Bible.

The Bible, it should be pointed out, is not big on respecting the different beliefs held by different people. The Bible shows many, many examples where God either directly punished people of different beliefs with His forces of nature, or -- God commands His believers to punish people of other beliefs with acts of violence.

Genocide is actually God's preferred method for dealing with people of different beliefs, when you consider how much more often He uses it over say, plagues of frogs.

My goal is to show love, tolerance, respect and open-mindedness and most of the time I get the same in return.

Awww. There are many who will applaud your goal. . . But not here.

It's nothing personal, you understand. It is just that love, tolerance, respect and open-mindedness are not Biblical goals.

Please understand, we have set ourselves a standard. Well, actually God has set a standard for us. And we are pretty much bound by that standard if we don't want to suffer an agonizing eternity.

Attitudes don't get you into heaven. Obedience does. Disobedience gets you a ticket to hell. It's all in the Bible-- which leads me to . . .

Are you SURE that you've read the Bible? Because much of what you've written doesn't indicate the close study that I recommend. If you had REALLY read the Bible, you would understand why we can't be respectful of other religions. The Bible calls them false, and says that people who follow them will go to hell.

Now, I believe you when you say that the Bible didn't appeal to you. There's a lot that doesn't appeal to me either. I'm a woman, and sometimes it just bothers me that I have less value than a man and that I am commanded to be silent in church.

But hey, I don't waste my breath arguing with God about it. It is written in the Bible, and I have found it very pointless to pour through the Bible trying to get it say something that it doesn't say. It's not written in erasable ink, you know.

Different things for different people, I guess.

Now, see, now you are getting into the Biblical swing of things. God DID decree different things for different people. Men were given authority over women, people who obey God in all things are sent to heaven, people who disobey Him in any way are sent to hell. Some people are designated as servants and slaves. Others are given dominion and power.

Dear, you write so politely and thoughtfully that I would love to respect your views. Except that God tells me to avoid any teachings or ideas or practices that can lead me to spiritual death.

Now, I technically respect your RIGHT to have your views, and so I personally won't be inflicting any direct punishment. Should circumstances change, however, I will have to go with God on this one. God doesn't really respect any one's view but His own. What with being eternal and all-knowing and all-powerful and all that, He rarely calls in outside opinion. And since He can send me to hell and you can't . . . well, you understand. But it was nice reading your responses.

I guess I was wrong to assume that your forum is a place for debate. I will, however, leave you with one thing, Cranky Old Man: I have absolutely no reason to lie about the content of Danish TV shows. As you see it, I'm headed to hell anyway, but the fact of the matter is this: I understand Danish, you do not and the person who made the translation of the program titles clearly doesn't either. Don't try to correct me on that, and stick to what you know instead.

That's a bit harsh accusing Brother Cranky being a liar. There are True Christians from Denmark who have not disagreed with him. You should find one point you disagree with. It may have already have been answered or just needs to be clarified.
