Re: Should a woman shave her legs?

I'm very confused. I personally much prefer a shaved leg and I believe husbands do too and woman was created for man (1 Corinthians 11:9)

But in Isiaiah 7:20 God uses shaved feet as a threat, 1 Corinthians 11:6 implies its a shame for a woman to be shaven (no mention is made of the head) and 1 Corinthians 11:15 mentions that long hair is a glory to her and again doesn't mention that that only applies to her head.

As not shaving definately isn't a sin and I can't get my head round whether shaving is a sin or not, I think I'm going to play it safe for now and stop waxing.

I actually believe what is being said in 1 Corinthians 11:6 is that a woman should be shorn if uncovered (such as in bed with her husband), but if it would be shameful to show this in public (too sexy for non husbands!) then she being shorn should be covered. Therefore, she should be shorn, but allowing it to be shown should be up to the husband or father. Or both.

Re: Should a woman shave her legs?

                        From 1 Corinthains 11

5But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

I read it as praying or prophesysing with an uncovered head is basically the same as being shaved and is a dishonour (verse 5) and then, expanding that, if she isn't covered she might as well be shaved, but if its shameful to be shaved then let her be covered.

Thank you so much for helping me to get my silly little head around this. I wouldn't want to accidentally sin but I just plain can't understand it myself.

Re: Should a woman shave her legs?

There also passages that seem to negate the importance of covering ones head during prayer, or that being shorn is of biblical importance. A moot point as it leads back to falling back on the decision of the husband or father. Or both. One would think that being shorn in the kitchen is of utmost importance to maintain a healthy cooking environment.

                          1 Corinthians 11
                          7
For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
                          16
But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

None of that really seems like Christian behavior.
