Brothers and Sisters,
Many of you have likely noticed a change in the tone of the rhetoric of this Mayoral campaign.
What I want to do here is specifically address some of the concerns, you the voters have expressed to our canvassers.
Many of you have been hearing these baseless accusations going around about candidate King. You, the voters, and us have shared both indignation and deep belly laughs over Councilman King being called such things as a "darkie rapist" or "shoeshine boy".
They have even drug out the old 9-11 pejorative and called this up and coming great American a terrorist.
They have gone so far as to accuse my devout Christian friend of being a Muslim.
The funniest accusation of all, is the residency requirement. How could he be serving on the Freehold City Council if we wasn't a resident? I would also like to remind those taking this line of reasoning that Al King did not move into Freehold. Freehold moved into his home through annexation as it did many of our neighborhoods.
You can tell by the the establishment's shrill desperation how afraid they are. You can see it with every poll they rig. You can see it in the Draconian measures they take to intimidate their opposition.
They fear their power waning in the face of what started off with a gentle breeze. It started with citizens like Mrs. Johnson talking to her knitting circles about life outside of Freehold.
It was further strengthened by the outright theft of land as a welcome to Freehold's poorest through eminent domain for $1.
That breeze became a storm with the election of Freehold's first ever black City Councilman.
Now friends..Here we stand on the precipice of history! A roaring zephyr of change is blowing through Freehold. Its smell is as sweet as the first blossoms of spring upon our home on the prairie!
Together, we will elect Councilman King as the next mayor of Freehold!
