Events have overtaken this thread as Boris has departed and Liz Truss is apparently now the leader of Britain. By comparison, Mr. Putin has had great success in building relations with his neighbors and growing the economy. Liz's latest budget calls for tax cuts on the rich to be paid for by borrowing, which caused the pound to drop to it's lowest rate ever increase productivity in the export sector. Here she is about to push her Chancellor under the bus. Go on Kwasi, tell the nice bus driver your plan.

Apparently the Zulu Truss appointed as Chancellor of the Exchequer has been sacked after a month on the job. Why she thought an African could handle a post like that is beyond me.

One of my younger boys (Simon, I think, but possibly Andrew, I can't tell them apart) said yesterday that it was all the fault of the Prime Ministress for only appointing a quasi quarteng instead of a real one. Although this is impressive vocabulary for a 5-year-old, how we laughed!

This season of the Crown is entertaining but not as believable as the one where Margaret Thatcher was nice to anyone. But at least we got to see the fruition of her libertarian utopian ideology - nice while it lasted (44 days).

The audience are getting a little tired of the same old roster - Eton, Oxon, Eton, Oxon, wax on, wax off - so the script writers have spiced it up a bit. Replacing Liz (Oxon), who replaced Boris (Oxon), who replaced Theresa May (Oxon), who replaced David Cameron (Oxon), who replaced Gordon Brown (temporary staff), who replaced Tony Blair (Oxon), up next we have Rishi Sunak (Oxon), Suella Braverman (Cambridge) and Kier Starmer (Oxon).

Suella (not her real name) is like the token Supreme Court justice who went to Yale, bringing an element of unpredictability to the class struggle. Can't wait to see the next episode(s).

I have no desire to judge people, even when forced to do so. Instead, I let common sense guide me. Putting a woman in charge of a country and the finances is a recipe for disaster. While a female can use a recipe in the kitchen, in the real world, it is another matter entirely.
When my wife, Mrs. Hutchin's was around, I'd go through her purse every day and have to ensure every penny was accounted for and spent wisely. It used to tear me up to see the careless spending on personal products. A dime here, a quarter there. After 40 years of marriage, it added up to real money, more than the cost of a new set of spark plugs in my 1980 Porsche Whale Tail.. You have to watch them like a hawk!

It looks like the people of Britain Conservative party members agree with you Mr. Hutchins. Ms. Truss is no more. The new guy (I didn't bother learning his name) has warned us that the UK faces a "profound economic challenge" despite "the agility, flexibility and freedom provided by Brexit", "a once in a generation opportunity for our country to take back control of its destiny", adding "I believe that our nation will be freer, fairer and more prosperous outside the EU", as promised by, well, the new guy himself. This latest rearrangement of Oxford PPE graduates will surely be just what the doctor ordered.

He's generally referred to as "Dishy Rishi", presumably because (unlike The Bouncing Boris) he doesn't weigh 400 pounds and have hair that appears to have been dropped from a great height in a tornado, slightly missing his head, or a face like an explosion in a donut factory.
